Trattoria Castello In Castel d'ario

Very good freshwater fish, friendly and attentive staff, carefully prepared dishes, but there's one problem: the portions are enormous, double, I'd say more suitable for a group lunch (or dinner) than for a couple. This "problem" is solved with the takeaway trays that the knowledgeable staff provide after each course. I highly recommend it. Reservations are required.

The rest area is in a truly pleasant location and has plenty of spaces—over a hundred—all served by electricity. Unfortunately, however, due to disagreements between the municipality and the management, the facility is falling into general disrepair. The restrooms and showers are in terrible condition and are only located in the upper section, near the entrance, serving about twenty campers. The lower section, which on paper would be the nicest area, lacks at least a second waste disposal point, and an additional set of restrooms and showers would be needed. I know that in many other areas these services aren't even present, but then it's worth removing everything and at least keeping the area clean and tidy. In this case, however, it would be appropriate to reduce the fee: a fee of around €15 would be more appropriate given the current conditions.

The frog risotto was too greasy; I couldn't eat it. The Risotto alla Pilota was decent. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

A lovely discovery! Dinner here with a group of friends. A welcoming location, a typical Mantuan trattoria. On the advice of the staff, always kind and helpful, we ordered various risottos to share (frogs, land snails, pilota, saltai). We were able to enjoy several different rice dishes, all beautifully flavored and seasoned. I also ordered the pike in sauce with polenta, excellent. To finish, a decent pistachio panna cotta with berries. The portions are always generous and the price is more than fair. Recommended!!!

Of course, we're talking about trattorias...and Cosmana Castello is one of the best! First of all, it's right across from Casteldario Castle, a place worth visiting and walking around! And the best part: the delicious food and the fast, attentive service! Unbeatable value for money. The doggy bag provided by the restaurant is a great option.

Possibly the best rice with deboned frogs in the area! The rice with fried and sautéed fish is also very good, perfectly fried, dry, and crispy. Generous portions and above-average quality for the area. The house Lambrusco is delicious. The service is friendly and courteous. Well done!
