Tratoria Piedicastello In Taranto

A true, traditional trattoria... if you'd like to try it, this location is definitely the most charming in the city (and probably the oldest). The atmosphere is very unique, with a dining room that backs onto Dos Trento! The food is traditional, a bit rustic, as it should be. The staff is friendly, everything is delicious, and the prices are more than fair. It's located in the beautiful little Piedicastello square, in the oldest neighborhood in the city, to the right of the Adige. Highly recommended!

I'm from Spain, and I hope to return to this place someday. The owner and his wife are always around, either at a table, eating, or taking reservations when you walk in, always smiling. It's lovely to see; it feels like home. The owner's paintings and artwork decorate the walls, doors, and even the chairs. It's welcoming, the food is delicious, and the desserts are homemade by the owner. Amazing!

Excellent food and excellent service

We just came from this restaurant, and the first thing I'm doing is writing this review... Why? I'm truly speechless—in the best possible way! Starting with the incredibly beautiful and unique ambiance, which surely carries with it a wonderful history spanning many years: every photo on the wall captivated me. From hand-painted pictures to family photos, they show who's behind this establishment. We had the honor of sitting next to the (I assume) owner, who answers every single phone call and manually notes down reservations and incoming guests. I could have watched him for hours 🥹 The antipasti buffet is absolutely fantastic, and the Bolognese was so delicious it felt like home. No frills—just incredibly tasty food. And if you're ever here, you absolutely must try the tiramisu! Truly the perfect end to the evening. The value for money is also unbeatable. This visit truly warmed my heart. This place is truly outstanding and an absolute gem for anyone who loves authentic Italian cuisine. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels both unique and full of character—every detail of the ambiance adds to a memorable dining experience. The food was exceptional from start to finish. Every dish tasted fresh, carefully prepared, and full of traditional flavors that really showcase the heart of Italian cooking. You can tell there’s a lot of passion and attention behind each plate. To top it all off, Nonna’s tiramisu was simply unforgettable—easily the best I’ve ever had. It was the perfect ending to an already amazing meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for incredible food, a special atmosphere, and an authentic taste of Italy.

A very good experience. The food is really good and reasonably priced. We ordered the gnocchi di zucca and the pasta with ragu di cinghiale, and they were delicious. The desserts are homemade and amazing too. The owners are very friendly; we'll be back.

Excellent food, friendly staff, a lively yet relaxed atmosphere, and beautiful spaces with plenty of character. The prices are also lower than the average for similar places in Trento. Highly recommended, it's just a shame there aren't more vegetarian and vegan options, especially among the main courses.
