We have just spent 5 wonderful days in Friuli at Tinello San Urbano.
Nothing was too much trouble for Mauro and his family and they made us very welcome - our stay was most comfortable & enjoyable. Their own vineyards surrounding the agriturismo created a wonderful relaxing & tranquil setting - the small swimming pool was also a delight as temperatures reached the high 20’s. Breakfast was simple, tasty and very satisfying - self service of fruit, homemade torte (delicious!) yoghurts, cold meats , cheese and juice, coffee/teas. We enjoyed an evening dinner, on 2 occasions, which was beautifully prepared, using local produce (the cheese soufflé was to die for!) a Friulano recipe. Tinello’s Schioppettino is a wonderful dry red wine, which went perfectly with the finely sliced Friulano beef. We were free to walk amongst the beautiful vineyards which we did one morning. We also visited Cividale di Friuli, a UNESCO world heritage site, which is only 10 minutes down the road. The other days were spent visiting our Italian family in the area - Sistiana beach is about a 45 minute car journey away. Mauro provided a great tip - if you are renting a car & before returning to the airport, it’s well worth visiting the local Slovenian petrol station only 1.5km away, as petrol is considerable cheaper over the border. We filled up again for €11 at Tamoil service station on the A4/E55 just 25 minutes away from Venice airport. A great week and we would highly recommend this peaceful location - we certainly hope to visit Tinello San Urbano again. Thank you Mauro and family !
