The Florence Foodie In Firenze

Central location. 3-night stay. We stayed in a suite for 6 people, and the air conditioning in the master bedroom was faulty (quite noisy and water was leaking). This problem already existed before our arrival, as there was a completely soaked towel under the unit. Despite reporting it several times during our stay, no repairs were made! In the bathroom, the shower seals were not watertight. We also encountered problems with the hot water, which was sometimes impossible to obtain. We therefore had to wash ourselves with cold water several times. The price charged was not worth the services.

My family had 2 rooms. One was huge and amazing, yet the a/c couldn’t keep up with the heat wave Europe is experiencing. The other room was very basic, but suited my husband and son’s needs. When the a/c went out in their room the staff was attentive and got it fixed. Front desk staff was very kind.

We thought this place would be great - the pics are wonderful. We wanted larger size beds as my husband is tall at 6'6". Location is great. And having a place to park in historic Florence is really difficult, so that is fantastic. The place was clean. It was modern. However, we were disappointed. The apartment reminds me of working in an office with cubicles. The rooms are not private. There is only a wall that goes up about 7 feet and then is open to the ceiling (like cubicles - although fully enclosed with a door). We were sharing the apartment with my sister and husband. But the lights from their room or ours was visible bouncing off the ceiling to the other. Sounds also carry throughout the apartment. You could hear if someone got up early or stayed awake later, any coughs or even walking. There is nowhere to hang a toiletry bag - in fact, no hooks anywhere. It's above some cafes and restaurants which were noisy til about 11 or so. It was great that they have a laundry room. However, this place is used by Florida State Univ. for students. They had taken over the laundry room on our floor, so that was not helpful. The bathroom does have a ceiling so is the only real private space in the apartment. The sink has no stopper. There is no place to put soap or shampoo in the shower except on the floor (or open the sliding shower door to reach in and out on a small shelf.) The beds were not comfortable. One of the beds (the king) was actually two portable steel bedframes set together with insufficient mattresses on top- not permanent beds. It had a sink or dip in the middle so head and feet are higher than the body. We tried to offset that with pillows and blankets added under the mattress. It might be ok for people in their 20’s but for older bodies, it is not comfortable. The other bed was not as bad but also consisted of two mattresses put together. Depends on your situation as to whether to stay here or not. Good - parking (cost extra), location, spacious, clean. Not so good - the open-to-ceiling bedrooms, beds.

We arrived at the hotel by bus, but we discovered that it is possible to walk there from the train station (it is about a 15-minute walk). I absolutely loved it! I stayed there with my friends and the room was actually an apartment with a kitchen, living room, terrace, two bedrooms (with an incredible view) and a bathroom, with a view of none other than the Duomo!!! We didn't use room service because we went to the hotel to sleep and shower. But the people who work at the hotel are very attentive. Our daily rates included breakfast, but it is served at a café/bistro next to the hotel. From the hotel, it was possible to walk to almost all the main attractions in Florence and we walked up and down during the day and at night without any problems.

AMAZING PLACE FOR A COUPLE. We took the attic apartment with a bathtub in the room! Everything clean and perfect! We also had a kitchen so we decided to cook there. There is also the possibility of parking in their internal courtyard with an extra cost of €25 per night and they also give you a permit for the ZTL. The attic had a 360 degree view of the cathedral and other important monuments. Perfect for an evening as a couple.

Beautiful experience: large and comfortable rooms, central location in the heart of Florence, there is also the possibility of reserving a parking space in the hotel car park, great availability. I'll be back!
