Teatro44 In Taormina

After getting a bit tired of mediocre Italian tourist trap restaurants in town, we were glad to have found this place. Our expectation for food has been low in Taormina given how it’s a tourist central (as proven in many other places here), but this place had exceeded and met our usual taste. The amuse bouche, appetizer Wagyu, Gnocchi, mackerel dish were great. But the tagliatelle al ragu was a bit uneven in temp. Two people were running the restaurant, taking turns cooking and serving so it was a little slow but we were okay with that. Overall we were very satisfied and happy to have found this place!

Teatro44 is a hidden gem that left us speechless. If you love seafood and creative cuisine, put this at the top of your list. The chef has genuine talent. Every dish surprised us in the best possible way. The chef blends Sicilian tradition with innovative and refreshing spins. We had the gnocchetti with bisque, raw purple shrimps, sea grapes and liquorice (extraordinary), a smoked spaghetti with mussels and pecorino fondue that left us speechless, and a Sicilian stockfish salad (a traditional recipe from Messina with dried white fish), that was a complete revelation. If you’re a seafood lover, this kitchen will not disappoint. The ingredients are exceptional and the cooking does them full justice. Service was warm, attentive and genuinely passionate about the food, exactly the vibe we wanted for a special evening out. It’s small, so better to book ahead.

Best restaurant we went to in Sicily! Food is absolutely incredible. Taormina is full of mediocre tourist traps and this place really shines. Small and intimate; great service. Food was delicious, honest and well plated. Every dish was thoughtful and well balanced.

I had dinner at the restaurant and was truly impressed. The atmosphere is refined, welcoming, and immediately conveys the passion with which the restaurant is run. The cuisine was a wonderful surprise: balanced dishes, extremely fresh ingredients, and tastefully and creatively crafted pairings. Every course was perfect, both in presentation and flavor. The service was attentive, kind, and professional. You truly felt pampered from start to finish. Sincere compliments to the chef and his staff: a place where you can sense their heart, dedication, and talent. A discovery absolutely worth sharing and recommending. I will gladly return!

Teatro 44 is as surprising as the origin of its name, which owner and chef Salvatore Denaro explains with a smile. High-quality cuisine brings great character and innovation to the dishes, especially the gnocchi with bisque and licorice, which is amazing. We really enjoyed our stay. The restaurant exudes creativity, which I also found in the dishes. The wine list is superb. We'll be back soon.
