Excellent pizza dough, but the Margherita was low-quality mozzarella and too much of it, a 4.5+ rating. The mushrooms and sausage were delicious, a 7.5. The tiramisu was a 7, but considering the restaurant setting and the excellent quantity, I'd say an 8. The veal meatballs were priced high for the quantity and size, but they were good, I'd give them a 6.5.
Total restaurant, including location, a 7.

I dined at Taverna Cestia and had a thoroughly positive experience. The restaurant is in a charming location, just steps from the Pyramid of Cestius, and immediately conveys the authentic atmosphere of traditional Roman trattorias.
I particularly enjoyed the cuisine, which features traditional Roman classics prepared with quality ingredients. The carbonara was creamy and flavorful, with well-balanced flavors, while the supplì were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The thin-crust Roman pizza also deserves a special mention.
The service was friendly and professional: the staff were helpful and attentive throughout the dinner, helping to create a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere. The atmosphere was also very pleasant, ideal for both a dinner with friends and a family evening.
The prices are in line with the area and the quality of the dishes offered. Overall, I consider Taverna Cestia an excellent choice for those who want to savor authentic Roman cuisine in a historic and characteristic setting. I would gladly go back to try other dishes on the menu.

What you might not expect is that an osteria near the subway and the station can be synonymous with goodness and quality. At Taverna Cestia, you'll find a pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, and quality dishes. We ate well from appetizer to dessert, and the coffee was good too. The bathrooms were clean and smelled good. Who would I recommend Taverna Cestia to? Travelers who can't leave the station, locals, and tourists.

Wonderful Roman cuisine! A wine cellar with refined natural wines! Valerio is an excellent host! One of the best carbonaras in Rome.

Google shows it as closing at 3: that's not true. It also lists a daily menu for €14: they don't have it. A very good place to eat, though.

The food, including good homemade pasta, was good, and the staff was friendly. It's a shame the gentleman at the table kept going back and forth between the table and the bathroom to vomit throughout the dinner. Once he vomited on the floor around ours, no one on the staff said anything to him. The waiter only cleaned up the mess with paper towels. For three people, it cost almost €100, with no discount for what happened.

A restaurant with attention to detail in every aspect. The food and typical homemade dishes were of very high quality; we were impressed. The staff were impeccable, with very attentive waiters, and it's centrally located for tourists looking to try something different.

This restaurant is highly addictive: I ordered lamb “abbacchio with vegetables” and I wanted more. My wife ordered eggplant “melanzane al forno” and defined them “the best I ever had.” The salad greens were highly selected from unusual plants.
Finally, the Grappa was very, very smooth.
I jokingly told the owner that he is running “a drug den” because his food is like a drug: too good.
We will go there for sure next time we come to Rome!
