A must visit to sample , home style cooked traditional food of Matera, in an old dug out building, which has been very lovingly restored.

Excellent dinner at this famous restaurant in Matera. Booking on the phone instead of on the site, they placed us in the mezzanine room. Excellent dishes and service, price a little higher than the Matera average but commensurate with the quality.

Very elegant restaurant, to welcome the courses we were served very hot Matera bread with a small terracotta container containing top-quality, fruity, emerald green extra virgin olive oil. Tasty and well-balanced first courses, kind and friendly service.

My colleagues and I went to this restaurant full of unfulfilled expectations, in fact the next day our 40 guests were diverted to another far superior restaurant. Before talking about the food I would like to make a small note on the welcome that we did not find. The waiter upstairs was clearly not very interested in working and not very pleasant. Jokingly we asked him for generous portions but not even the hint of a smile from him. We demonstrated from the orders and the bill that we were not beggars so I would have expected a gesture such as an offered coffee or a bitter at the end of the bill. Having said this, I understand that knowing how to work is not for everyone. Good food, nothing to say, both positive and negative. Perhaps given the prices we were expecting tastier things, the crumb on the crunchy pasta and at least one whole crunchy pepper on top to decorate, no pasta polenta.

We stayed at Stano yesterday, March 20, 2025, we were two couples with two children aged 3 and 5 years. Very quiet environment, the first impact upon entering was immediately positive. Even though our children "livened up" the place a bit by wandering around the table and playing with the dinosaurs and toy cars, the staff was very patient and very kind. The food deserves 5 🌟 and more for the elaborate but substantial dishes and each with its own presentation. The desserts were no exception and while my son was crying because he wanted a San Giuseppe zeppola, here it magically arrived from off the menu. I would say that for this reason alone the SERVICE This restaurant deserves 5 stars 🌟.

In vacanza a Matera ci è stata consigliato questo posto ed è stata una cena ottima. Un posto da consigliare …vivamente a chi vuol scegliere un ottimo posto.

Bella la location e buone le portate che abbiamo ordinato, in particolare i ravioli di zucca e la guancia di maialino nero. Anche il servizio è stato all’altezza delle aspettative.
