The staff were welcoming, prompt and very efficient. Too bad the whole external context. Consideration more aimed at politicians than at the structure. It seems absurd to me that as a tourist, I had to travel 1.5 hours from Vieste to reach an emergency room with my car, because "the ambulance would have taken longer...". But how is it possible that to access a PS in Puglia you have to travel so far? Here we are playing with people's lives and this is very serious. But you doctors don't give up! Thanks anyway .

We left a pediatric facility specialized in the treatment of a complex pathology such as spina bifida, which had followed my son since birth and had a dedicated neurosurgery department, to move to a facility for adults organized differently and where we didn't know anyone. of doctors. 📌And this is how we met Dr. Giuseppe Cretì, head of the Pediatric Urology Unit and coordinator of the spina bifida team who introduced and accompanied us into this new family. 📌When things go well they are all good, efficient, specialized, but the difference can be seen in complex situations. And what we have just gone through is too simplistic to define it as just complex because it is much, much more. 📌Other specialists, where unfortunately last year we ended up urgently due to severe sepsis, believed that the operation, although complex, was within their reach and ventured like beginners into a path suitable only for ultra senior experts; after taking him to the operating room twice a few months apart and without NEVER resolving the situation, in fact in the meantime it was getting complicated, they gave up and coldly "dumped" us saying that the situation turned out to be much more complex, so much so that it is beyond their reach. 📌Well, it took two operations, a malicious waste of time to the detriment of my son's health, for them to realize that to carry out that type of operation you need experience, skills in the field of neurological bladder, knowledge of the implications of spina bifida and , above all, a lot of humility because the patient you have on the operating table is not a normal patient but a person whose collateral problems connected to the pathology make the operation very problematic and must be kept well in mind and known. 📌Only at Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza could they achieve this; only the doctor Giuseppe Cretì with his obstinacy, scholar, competent person animated by an authentic passion for his profession, could undertake this difficult and improvident adventure. 📌To Dr. Giuseppe Cretì and Dr. Matteo Santodirocco (urologist), we express our feeling of gratitude, esteem and affection, aware of the complex work they have done and the extraordinary result, which is anything but predictable. 📌I decided to make such a delicate family situation public, with the sole aim of making known the good part of Apulian healthcare (I'll spare you and myself the negative part because I hope to remove it) to give hope to those who don't know, they undertake journeys of hope to other regions. 📌In politics, however, I would like a strong appeal to be made to strengthen the service that takes care of people with spina bifida, and in Puglia there are some, recognizing the problematic nature of this congenital malformation which cannot be managed by professionals neither by inexperienced nor by those who pretend to be experts... and I assure you that there are some. I would like to publicly express my gratitude to the praiseworthy work of Doctor Costanza Longo - Glaucoma - Ophthalmology - who managed with extreme diligence, competence and skill to resolve a serious problem that had afflicted me for years, namely a pernicious glaucoma in both eyes ( with even excruciating pain) and which they had not been able to resolve in Bologna. Showing qualities of high professional competence and a lot of humanity and sweetness, in a few weeks she managed to: drastically reduce the eye pressure, now back to normal values, in both eyes; therefore to reduce and eliminate the bulbar pain that had afflicted me for some time (and which caused me to feel numb and insomnia at night); avoid the operation.
