We came here after visiting the secede mountain range via cable car. It was packed with tourists. This was a slight turn-off, and made it feel like a tourist trap. One of the menu items was some sort of sardine. I thought maybe it was fried sardines, one of my favorite appetizers in Italy, but I asked the waitress about it, and she showed me a picture of the item. It was a can of sardines! Basically it was sardines, tomatoes and cheese or something, but had a can of sardines on the plate, opened. She told me they were fresh sardines. Last time I checked, fresh means not in a can... 😅🤷 Proceed to the meal. I ordered wienerschnitzel and my partner-in-crime got lamb chops. See the pics for how it looked. The food was not bad, hence the four-stars, but was not super special. It was a decent lunch after a hike, with a lot of tourists around. Maybe it would have been better on a day when there aren't tourists, but I imagine there are always tourists around this area. I am American, and am well aware of the perils of late-stage capitalism, so the prices seemed very reasonable to me. Overall, decent food, a bit touristy, decent prices, there might be something a little more authentic if you look a little longer. 😅

The lamb chops are tender and have a mellow taste; the beef is juicy and has a delicate taste.

Siamo stati ad Ortisei 4 giorni ed abbiamo cenato qui ogni sera al ritorno da passeggiate in alta quota. Piatti tipici della tradizione e cantina fornita. Tutto ottimo. Sapori inconfondibili. Prima di iniziare ti offrono dalla cucina una piccola entreé che cambia ogni sera. I sapori sono tipici e le materie prime di qualità. La musica blues di sottofondo una vera chicca. Il personale merita un premio. Tutti gentilissimi e simpaticissimo sempre sorridenti e disponibili anche con chi ha un cane a seguito. L’ultima sera,ai saluti, ci hanno offerto due grappe tipiche. I prezzi per Ortisei sono nella norma.

Friendly service, nice selection of dishes. We had the vegetarian pasta and a salmon starter. We enjoyed both dishes and had a pleasant evening.
