Shalai Restaurant In Linguaglossa

The food here was really very good. Interesting dishes, creative ideas and a real pleasure to eat. The staff are friendly, informative and helpful. We had a memorable meal. As a venue, it doesn’t reach the same standard as the food. The decor tends to be dark and as per a previous review, the chairs are metal with a base cushion but no back cushion. Not really so comfortable. The lighting and music didn’t really work either. That said, the food was good! The burrata mousse with tomato and local olive oil was really unique and special.

Didn’t stay here but dined at the Michelin star restaurant. The land menu was excellent (better than the sea menu in our opinion). Bread was fantastic, but desserts were not so good which was surprising because other dishes were really well executed. Great service.

I can only judge the food. We paid 420 euros for the menu with wine for 2 people, which is not bad in this region. The food was tasty and it started off promising but not very surprising towards the end. The courses were also served one after the other at rapid speed. Of the 6 courses, there were also 2 lemon-based desserts. And then lots of sweets as an extra. Not everyone wants pastries after dinner.

The food itself was largely enjoyable - well-balanced and distinctive flavours one would expect from a restaurant with a Michelin star - and the flexibility to eat following the tasting menus or a la carte is very welcome. What would produce a better review? Do something about the ambience and character of the place. Areas for improvement: - The dining room has little to no atmosphere - painted a dull grey that sucks light out of the space, with wall art that tries too hard. The whole space fails to conjure up any of the warmth and abundance of Sicily. We went at lunchtime. Perhaps it’s not so bad at night? - The most uncomfortable chairs (wrought iron garden chairs with open seat backs one cannot lean against without discomfort) - Background music - an acoustic medley of 80s and 90s pop ballads - Unwelcoming staff on the front desk (rule one - look delighted to see your guests!) and diligent, knowledgeable but rather sombre waiting staff All the above left us with no enthusiasm to order dessert or linger over our meal - which is such a shame with a talented team in the kitchen.

I took a package with a Junior suite room for one night, a one-hour spa for exclusive use, dinner and breakfast. What can I say except: EVERYTHING EXCELLENT! Impeccable service, very high quality food and the room and spa so well kept and clean that they looked like they had just been inaugurated. I highly recommend
