This seafood restaurant was an absolute highlight of our trip. The waiter brought us a selection of freshly caught fish to choose from and we picked the Pagello Fragolino and wow, it was without a doubt the best fish I have ever eaten. Perfectly cooked, tender and bursting with flavour, it was simply unforgettable. The Tropea salad was the perfect side, fresh and beautifully balanced, and the local wine they served, made especially for this place, was outstanding. The prices felt completely fair for the quality. The chef even came out to check if everything was perfect and the staff were incredibly warm and attentive. If you are a fan of fish this place is an absolute must.

Amazing octopus 🐙 we had, all food what we served 😋 was DELICIOUS 😋..
Very calm atmosphere and good caring staff ,is a pleasure to back here.
Even if you order fish they bring you a plate and show you wich one will be cooked 🍳 for you ,,is Amazing 👏 🤩.

They charge 3€ fee\pers, very annoying. The ambiance and the Service are great.
Its a seafood restaurant but we were craving pasta.. I Had The carbonara. It was too salty and my wife had the see food pasta wich didn’t taste much. Portions are very small. Won’t go back

Good, the manager and the guy were kind, the guy was also very good and the food was very good... portions weren't that big, but overall, a good restaurant that I would recommend. I went back to eat there that same evening after having a bad experience at another restaurant.

Fast, polite, friendly and professional service. We ate fish and I must say that everything was very good, well prepared, very tasty and perhaps not very tasty for my taste. Each dish was presented on suitable plates with excellent presentation. Modern environment, without too many frills. Located in Tropea historic center, with a view of the sunset (even if the sun is not visible). ... Adequate price. We will definitely return

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to point out that I rarely spend time reviewing places!! But when it's worth it... I find the time! The "Scacco Matto di Tropea" is a place worth reviewing!! In short, it is the emblem of the perfect winning team!! Skill, friendliness and preparation of Chef Giuseppe; friendliness, preparation and cordiality of the owner Antonio and to close an excellent raw material that more and more restaurants are abandoning in favor of profit alone! Having said that, we ordered first spaghettoni allo scoglio and spaghettoni alle vongole..., simply fantastic! The quantity on the plate is just right that makes you think "shall I eat another plate or shall I come back tomorrow?". Anyway, the first courses are amazing! For the second course, I asked the chef if their famous "TATAKI DI TONNO" was fresh!! Instead, he showed me a video of him cleaning and working it before putting it in the fridge! I was convinced and this was also a fantastic culinary experience! My wife, on the other hand, more attached to seafaring traditions, ordered fried calamari and prawns... this was also excellent! So, to conclude, we ate like crazy and at a fair price for the quality contained in the dishes!! Highly recommended!!

Piacevolissima cena a Tropea a pochi passi dalla famosa Piazza del Cannone.
Il ristorante offre un ricco menù di pesce e in cucina lo Chef Giuseppe fa magie: niente artifizi, solo materie prime eccellenti e tanta passione.
Ambiente curato e ottima selezione musicale di sottofondo.
Abbiamo gustato una squisita impepata di cozze, la fileja con le cipolle di Tropea e la calamarata con pesce spada e melanzane.

Ambiente stupendo, vista sul mare in lontananza, personale e titolare gentilissimi e soprattutto il cuoco Giuseppe una forza della natura 💪🏾 abbiamo mangiato la migliore parmigiana del mondo e i tentacoli di polpo teneri ma gustosi. Esperienza eccezionale, prezzi giusti e torneremo sicuramente!
