A PIZZA fit for a king I received it at home from a dear friend, who introduced me to a type of stuffed pizza that was completely unknown to me, who also love pizzas. I had already tasted them just over a month ago, stuffed with vegetables, one with mussels and the other with octopus, but today's one, at 🐙, was particularly fresh and therefore even better. Legend has it - as the dedicated website states - that the inventor of the first tiella was probably Ferdinand IV of Bourbon (1751-1825), who ordered its composition to a housewife busy kneading dough. These are two discs of pizza with vegetable and fish fillings. Today the tielle menu is very varied, and conditioned only by the alternation of the seasons. As for fish, octopus, cod mussels, anchovies and salted anchovies are mixed with escarole, onions and tomatoes. But there are tielle di Gaeta also reserved for vegans, because they are stuffed, as in Ferdinand's time - only with seasonal vegetables and seasoned with extra virgin olive oil.

Tielle to take away are excellent especially if you have the opportunity to heat them up a little. The one with escarole and pine nuts had a generous filling and a good dough. Quality products associated with the kindness of Ludovica and the professionalism of Mr. Vincenzo who allowed us to organize a more than substantial aperitif that turned into a delicious dinner with traditional dishes cooked expressly. As an appetizer, spicy salami, obviously Gaeta olives and fish omelette. First, delicate calamarata with seafood followed by excellent anchovy meatball, exquisite slice of tiella with baby octopus and tasty sautéed chicory and escarole. We dined with two types of white wine and a house red, also available in bulk. At the counter you can buy ready-made dishes that can only be heated at home or packs of pasta, biscuits, honey... all coming from the area. The prices are certainly in line with the excellent raw material. The place isn't huge and doesn't close late in the evening, so it's best to book and agree to eat your meal on comfortable stools. I recommend it and will definitely return!

Tielle a portar via ottime soprattutto se si ha la possibilità di riscaldarle un pochino. Quella con la scarola e pinoli aveva un ripieno abbondante e un buon impasto.

Locale spartano ed informale, ideale per una pausa pranzo veloce. Probabilmente, non ne sono certo, uno dei pochi posti a Roma dove trovare l'autentica Tiella, pietanza tipica di Gaeta, fragrante e rustica torta salata proposta con svariati ripieni. Ottime le classiche, con alici o con cipolle, e ovviamente super gustosa la salsiccia e broccoletti ( e come potrebbe essere altrimenti!!!). Impasto leggero, molto piacevole al morso ed esaltato dai condimenti sapidi ed abbondanti! Disponibili anche pizze, focacce, calzoni ripieni e qualche semplice sfizio di pesce. Poche birre in bottiglia, o un discreto bianchetto della casa, per accompagnare il tutto, e conto assolutamente popolare.

The food is excellent, it's a shame about the rudeness of the girl who served me, she seemed to be doing me a favor and was visibly annoyed. I won't go there again and I'm sorry but certain attitudes are intolerable
