I immediately realized that I had discovered a real pearl here in Assisi. The San Pietro hotel is very close to Porta San Pietro and for those coming from the station by bus it is a real blessing. Dragging your suitcases, tired from the journey, is not the best thing. Rooms as clean as I've ever found. The room is quiet and you can't hear the traffic. I slept great. The staff very friendly and helpful. The church of San Pietro right in front of the hotel is beautiful. Good breakfast, good homemade cakes. Unfortunately you can't dine in the hotel and honestly that's the only flaw I found. It would be nice to organize a salad buffet, simple fresh things to have for dinner when you are tired from walking during the day. Assisi is a continuous up and down...and going back to the hotel, taking a shower and coming down for a light, fresh dinner wouldn't be bad.
