05/04/2025: The tavern is a guarantee! Well-executed and satisfying dishes based on local products. Courteous and approachable service. Relaxing location, ideal for getting away from the chaos of the city. Both the pigeon bomb and the off-menu venison are excellent. Remarkable wine cellar. Super recommended!
30/03/2025: Ostreria Fratelli Pavesi, now an institution in the Piacenza area.
Very nice location, with the possibility of eating outside, weather permitting.
To start we wanted to try a platter of culatello and one of mortadella.
It's difficult to find a culatello that melts in your mouth. Must try.
A note of merit must be made for their offer of bread, focaccia and breadsticks, which from the beginning suggest the quality of the route that will be undertaken.
We arrive at the much talked about Bomba di Riso, reserved during the booking phase.
An external crust to give crunchiness, which encloses a creamy rice with mushrooms and pigeon, tasty and impactful.
Expectations were met.
Now let's move on to the dishes that were less convincing, the two great classics.
The tortelli and the pisarei.
The tortelli were lacking in flavour, vaguely bland, despite the addition of cheese.
The pisarei, on the other hand, although creamy and well made, had an aroma that prevailed over everything, probably an excessive use of celery in the sauté.
Everything else is top notch.
The plin are amazing, among the most successful dishes.
Very tender pork pluma with a good hint of embers.
Well done fried brains.
As for desserts:
The trifle was nice and pleasant.
The sbrisolona with zabaglione, however, was a good way to end in simplicity.
Simplicity that the Piacenza area recalls, and that Ostreria Fratelli Pavesi manages to respect, adding its own mastery in the selection of products and in their execution, adapting them to a constantly evolving gastronomic reality.
The evolution also follows higher costs than average, and unfortunately, in their case, a somewhat cold and not very explanatory service regarding the proposal of the dishes, especially considering their level.
The same dishes which, however, will still make you go home happy to have been there.
