05/01/2025: There are more and more people looking for Gourmet restaurants (yes), where they serve you with large plates...huge with almost no food inside. And then there are those people who are looking for that trattoria where and how they ate at their grandmother/mother years ago.
Here, at the Piedicastello restaurant, you can find those dishes that I rarely find elsewhere. Good and plentiful.
We had as a first course, there are 5 of us, lentil soup, tagliatelle with ragú (x 2), pumpkin sweets and priest strangles.
Second courses...roast pork in beer and 4 goulash with baked potatoes and polenta.
Dessert... tiramisu (X2).
All good.
2 Water, 1lt of house red wine (Cabernet), 4 Coffees and 2 local grappas.
Total...32 euros each.
P.s. The waiter Francesco (Roman... and a Lazio fan 🦅) was really good, friendly and professional.
03/01/2025: An unusual trattoria located outside the historic center of Trento.
The environment is particular, characterized by a collection of varied paintings/objects/furniture, with different styles and references.
I was surprised by the bathroom, as it was "frescoed" in an original and unusual way.
It appears to be slightly spartan in terms of cleanliness, the flaw I can point out concerns the tablecloth... it was clear that it had not been changed as it had sauce and drink stains.
As for the dishes, they were very good.
Each dish, with simple flavours, was cooked to perfection (good starting material).
And the quality/price ratio is super honest!!!
We took:
-fettuccine with mushrooms
-orecchiette with broccoli and sausage
-lentil soup and side dish of Storo polenta
-braised in Barolo
- lamb chops
The service was simple, correct and kind.
Definitely an experience worth trying.
