04/06/2026: 🇵🇪 If a restaurant is called MACHU PICCHU, just like one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, it must be able to fly the flag... and not just because of its 2,430 meters of altitude :-)
The historic "Lost City of the Incas," built around 1450 and famous for its incredible dry-stone architecture, has always fascinated me deeply. That's precisely why I was so keen to try an authentic Peruvian restaurant with such an important name. 🇵🇪
Moving on to the cuisine, I have to say I was truly impressed by their buffet. I usually don't like this formula, because it often sacrifices quality, but here it was the complete opposite: fresh, authentic, well-prepared dishes with authentic Peruvian flavors. 🇵🇪
Really interesting buffet: excellent creamy ají de gallina, delicious braised chicken, and crispy chicharrón, accompanied by frejoles and Peruvian noodle soup. Home-style, very authentic cooking. I'll describe them to you in detail...
"AJI DE GALLINA": It has a delicious, creamy yellow ají amarillo sauce, with shredded chicken, potatoes, and peas, one of the most famous Peruvian dishes. 🐔
"POLLO A LA BRASA": pieces of Peruvian spiced roast chicken cooked on a spit/grill. 🐓
"Frejoles" and not "frijoles" because we're speaking Peruvian...😅 An excellent beige cream with stewed PERUVIAN beans. 🫘
"Chicharrón de cerdo" are crispy pork cubes. 🐷
"Chancho al jugo" or "costillas" is delicious pork in a flavorful brown sauce🐷
"Puré de papa" is the Peruvian puree, very smooth, made with potatoes and yellow corn. 🥔 🌽 Sometimes they make it as a simple variation of ají.
"Sopa dietética de pollo" is soup with thin noodles (fideos delgados), a chicken broth with vegetables and pulled chicken 🥒
Authentic flavors. I'll definitely be back soon!
