to preface...I see there is quite a variety of reviews here... I will say that this review is based on my experiences there september-december of 2024, and I'm unsure if the same employees / setup are still there! I hope so :) review: I always went in the morning at the same time before school, so I always encountered the same employees which allowed us to grow friendly quickly! It was the same 2-3 men who I always had positive interactions and interesting conversations with. Caffe della scala became a special place for me during my time abroad in Rome because of this. amidst a bustling neighborhood they offer this calm, old world feeling space; i love the room with the couch facing the window, i sat there every morning. The staff really made this place for me, and even helped me practice my italian (so helpful for school, daily interaction, and they were so kind about it). It was easy to spend time here, and what a blessing that in a country unfamiliar to me, they cultivated a space where I felt so welcome and at home. If you are an introvert like me and love a slow paced cafe in a big city, where you can simply exist and observe, give caffe della scala a visit.
