Crossing the threshold of Il Margutta means embarking on a sensory journey where vegetarian haute cuisine and art blend in perfect harmony. Indulging in the all-you-can-eat buffet is a magnificent experience, a parade of delights ranging from raw and cooked vegetables to appetizers, including the classic and timeless eggplant parmigiana, Russian salad, delicious sauces, and fragrant bread. The journey continues with impeccable first courses, culminating in a triumph of artisanal desserts, from sublime tiramisu to jam-filled biscuits, and the classic and delicious apricot tart.
The ambiance is meticulously crafted, clean, and uncluttered, rendered incredibly evocative by an extraordinary exhibition of paintings entirely dedicated to the immortal icon Anna Magnani. Completing this picture of excellence is the wait staff, exceptionally professional, polite, and attentive to every need.
A carefree experience to be enjoyed and returned to.

It can get quite busy here, so it is advisable to reserve a table. In terms of service, decor, and dishes, the restaurant is on the more upscale side. You receive a complimentary amuse-bouche from the house beforehand; in our case, that was a small soup. We then started with the salty cheesecake with peas and the arrosticini. Both dishes were truly fantastic. I found the main courses and desserts less impressive. The risotto was a bit bland in terms of flavor. The cheese with green beans alla genovese was tasty, though. The desserts were also somewhat disappointing; I felt they lacked some flavor. It is not cheap, but I would certainly come back for the starters.

Overall, an okay dinner, but not a particularly satisfying one. We had high expectations, but they weren't met. We expected something more in terms of technique and refinement in the dishes.
We had two appetizers (zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta and thyme, and zucchini and lime meatballs) and two first courses (seafood flavor and cavatelli with pistachio pesto). We much preferred the appetizers. We were probably unlucky with our choices.
The staff was very kind, attentive, and discreet.
Two appetizers, two first courses, and one bottle of wine: €98. In my opinion, the price was too high for what we ate (I mean the quality and craftsmanship of the dishes, not the quantity).
Overall, we left feeling slightly disappointed.

For dinner, the atmosphere was refined, with prompt service and live music in the background. The vegan menu was a real treat: highly recommended. The wine list is good and varied. The freshly baked bread is excellent. Prices are a bit high, but in line with the solid and innovative cuisine.

In my opinion it’s a bit too expensive for what it is.
5 stars due to earnest attempt at a fully vegetarian restaurant with lots of vegan options.
