What a wonderful discovery! Last Sunday we visited this restaurant near Bologna. To get there, we took a side road through the woods, shrouded in fog, and we asked ourselves several times: "I hope it's worth it!" It was worth it. We were welcomed by Chef Andrea as if we were lifelong friends. The dining room is as welcoming as Andrea. He makes you feel at ease. He pampered us all evening, telling us about his cuisine, his dishes, and his passion for wine. We tasted almost every dish offered, and honestly, it's hard to say which one we liked best. They all reflected the local and seasonal flavors. Then, the pairing with some suggested local wines completed a perfect evening!! I will be honest, I chose this charming trattoria because of a personal connection to Flos, the Italian heritage lighting company, when going through photos of the locale… when I saw Castiglioni’s Splügen Bräu adorning the dining room I was immediately intrigued. I was prejudiced from the beginning, and I KNEW that I would find a spot that had great taste, in design, in people (the staff) and of course in food… And like in their lighting choices, a great love and respect for heritage, the surrounding territory and the bounty that it can offer us. Not only will you find great and delicious interpretations of Bolognese classics, even some long forgotten, but you will also have the pleasure and privilege to discover new ideas and dishes inspired by tradition and the locally foraged produce. I would say our menu was a love letter to the Chestnut (castagna). That love was perceived and shared! It was also pleasure to discover the design history of this building, having been designed by Dino Gavina! This restaurant is a strong recommendation for those who wish to enjoy great food made by people who bring great joy into every dish and interaction they make.

We were in Bologna for the Radiohead concert, and since everything in the city center was fully booked, we decided to venture a bit further away. We found a table here almost by chance... and I'd say we were truly lucky! The dishes are refined and beautifully balanced, prepared with fresh, high-quality seasonal ingredients. All accompanied by an excellent Sangiovese di riserva, which perfectly complemented our Sunday lunch. A truly pleasant, thoughtful, and authentic experience. Highly recommended!

We were here a year ago and had to come back. Complements to the chef and the staff. Your passion shines through in the homely yet elevated food, the attention to detail and the warm hospitality. Highly recommend the pastas and any of the antipasti options. We had the grilled chicken this time but the Guinea Fowl last time, all is excellent.

This restaurant is one of my all-time favorites! I usually go in the summer because I love their terrace, but this time I went in the fall and still found the atmosphere welcoming, refined, yet warm. The dishes are exquisite, revisiting tradition with a focus on authenticity. I don't eat meat, and the chef prepared a delicious vegetarian version of one of their dishes (there are, however, several vegetarian and vegan options). The wine is excellent, which is essential for me. Last, but not least, are the kindness of the owner and his staff.
