Brilliant cuisine, great service

Unfortunately we were disappointed. The Ossobuco was nothing special. The filet was fine. Dolci were the ok.

We ate at Smeraldo again last night; we particularly recommend the risotto and filet di manzo. The quality of the food, the portion sizes, the service, and the wine selection are all excellent. In our experience, Smeraldo is one of the best restaurants in the Luino area.

A restaurant just like it was in my day, with cuisine that strikes a fine balance between tradition and innovation, authentic preparation, excellent seafood, and an old-fashioned holiday atmosphere, nestled in the beautiful Lombardy mountains. Here, even the most inclement weather becomes poetry, and a cool, rainy evening brings to mind the novels of Piero Chiara, who often came here to enjoy food and company. Unfortunately, the small room dedicated to him and Prezzolini is currently undergoing maintenance and temporarily closed to the public, but it's a gem that adds to the place's charm. The welcome is warm and almost affectionate, the service efficient and discreet, and the answers to questions about food and drinks are sincere. I'll definitely become a regular; after all, I was first introduced here months ago by some very magical Chiara fans.

Everything was delicious, the waiters were very friendly, and the atmosphere was very peaceful. It was a bit of a hassle to get there by motorhome, but we were able to park and had a wonderful lunch. The desserts were also spectacular.

The Risotto Smeraldo is a must. We at different meat secondi and all of them were awesome. The chef came to our table and took time to take our orders correctly. The winelist is also great. I can highly recommend this restaurant!

You should be aware beforehand that this is more of a fine dining experience with small portions and high prices. But if you embrace it, the taste is truly sensational, at least the first courses we tried were. The cannelloni with minced meat and my tortellini were spot on, and you can taste the craftsmanship. The prices are right at €12 and €16, respectively. The antipasto, on the other hand, wasn't for us; just a poached egg and a few slices of asparagus, and for €16, that's a bit steep ;) especially since the bread was charged extra... the bill said €3 per person for coperto e pane.

We have been eating well for two generations. Really good. I recommend
