We ate really well. The dishes were well-prepared, with great care, the service was very pleasant, clean, and reasonably priced.
The dining room where we ate is a bit old-fashioned, but that's not a flaw, it's true Valtellina, which holds up despite everything and is in pleasant harmony with the freshness of the cuisine and service. We came here 35 years ago for our wedding reception; since then, before this evening, we'd only been back once: it was a mistake. We'll try to make up for it in the coming years.

For a typical Valtellina dinner with friends from Milan, we chose Ristorante San Carlo, known for its impressive cellar, which also houses a collection of Valtellina Nebbiolo bottles. Despite the steep prices and somewhat limited portions of the dishes, such as the antipasto, sciatt, and taroz, the quality and sophistication of the dishes met our expectations. We also greatly appreciated the kindness and friendliness of the staff, who greeted us from the moment we entered and welcomed us into their restaurant.

A pleasant discovery on the way to northern Valtellina. The well-kept restaurant, friendly staff, and excellent value for money are what impressed us. Especially the fact that it's not a tourist restaurant allowed us to enjoy excellent dishes for dinner, such as pizzoccheri and lasagna with bitto cheese and pumpkin.

Compared to the last time I went (before the renovation), overall there's been a slight decline. The quality of the food and the variety of wines are still high, but something is missing. The dishes are carefully crafted (even aesthetically), and the meats are very good.
