A very popular place in the area, the place is nice but a bit dated.
We ordered two spaghetti with clams, which remained unremarkable. They were without the seafood-inspired sauce, and the clams were a bit sparse.
My daughter had the gluten-free pizza, while I had the mixed grilled fish...
30 euros for that dish seems really excessive.
The service was courteous and attentive...
We went in with high expectations based on how our friends had described it, but we left feeling a bit disappointed.

Excellent food, excellent gluten-free options, including fish, fried foods, and pasta. We've been several times and have always been satisfied.

Highly recommended if you decide to visit the Velia Archaeological Park and haven't had lunch yet (like we did). The food was very good.

Saturday, August 2, 2025... you go there for two takeout pizzas and I'll tell you: "We can't make them, we have too many pizzas to make...", at 8:00 PM!!! 😶. If that had happened in Naples, they would have made you 8! Luckily it's a pizzeria, we won't go there anymore; politeness is not optional.
Old review
Friendly staff and a pleasant place. The interior is very quaint, with soft lighting and rustic furnishings. Unique little fountains welcome you at the entrance, but there's no sea view; the place adjoins a pharmacy and the parking lot near the Velia archaeological site. You can sample pizzas (including gluten-free ones), which in my opinion aren't up to the standard of Neapolitan pizza. Otherwise, the food is good, and you can choose between a coffee or liqueur at the end of the meal. The grappa with raisins is definitely worth trying.

Sober and tidy restaurant, well cooked food, the presentation on the plates could be improved, abundant portarosa appetizer, excellent scialatielli focei... they have a good choice for wine lovers.
The polite staff was available for various requests. Prices above average. There is a fairly large and free outdoor parking area. Portarosa is a fixed stop on our weekends in Ascea Marina. recommended.
