A well-preserved and charming castle located a short distance from Piacenza, with 15th-century towers, a large internal courtyard with pleasant green spaces, and a perimeter moat. It often hosts events, including the interesting Fair of Ancient Fruits and Flowers, featuring displays of artisanal food and textiles. The only complaint is the restrooms, consisting of unhygienic cubicles that are inadequate for the high number of people attending the various events.

I went for a fair and it was pleasant to walk around the large space around the castle. The whole thing is very characteristic.

I visited Paderna Castle during the autumn market-exhibition "I Frutti del Castello" (The Fruits of the Castle) and it was a wonderful experience combining history, nature, and beauty. The Setting: The castle itself is a jewel, a lowland fortress still surrounded by a picturesque water-filled moat. Its brick walls and 15th-century towers create a spectacular setting. Strolling through the park and the large agricultural courtyard, amidst the autumn colors, is a true journey back in time. The Church of Santa Maria within the complex is a small Romanesque treasure worth a visit.

From the moment we first visited the castle, we knew we couldn't have chosen a more romantic location for our wedding, with its ancient walls, the moat that creates an incredibly evocative atmosphere, its blooming hydrangeas, and the adorable adjacent church. What further convinced us were the owners, truly special people with whom we developed a wonderful relationship and who made us feel truly welcomed. Every detail shows the care and love that goes into maintaining the place: from the perfect lawns to the carefully pruned flowers, to the evident desire to make improvements without altering the authenticity of a place so rich in history. We will definitely return to what has become a favorite place for us when the opportunity arises, even to have a pleasant chat with Mr. Pettorelli and his son Leopoldo in the shade of the porticoes. Highly recommended for incurable romantics like us!

Beautiful castle. I went to a charity dinner so I don't know if you can eat or if they offer anything else. I can only say that the castle is really very beautiful.

18/03/2026: Excellent raw materials, and the quality was clearly evident. The cured meats were served on a plate and were generally good; the culatello, in particular, was truly excellent. The prosciutto crudo was high-quality, but a large portion of the slice was made up of fat: out of a width of about five fingers, three were practically nothing but fat, which made it a bit heavy after a while. The cheese selection was very good. I wasn't entirely convinced by the Russian salad, however: I expected a stronger flavor, while the sauce that held it all together was a bit overwhelming after a while. As for the tortelli piacentini, I expected a more intense flavor, despite the added cheese, and they were probably also slightly overcooked, as they tended to fall apart even when picked up with a fork. The desserts, on the other hand, were excellent: the zuppa inglese was very good, rich in Alchermes as per tradition. The sbrisolona was also good; the zabaglione wasn't entirely my cup of tea, but it was still enjoyable.
13/03/2026: All the dishes are delicious, the brains, plin and guinea fowl salad are stratospheric.
