Returning to Matera after 10 years, we chose this place to dine on the second and last evening of the Matera stage of our holiday.
This restaurant-pizzeria is located outside the nightlife of the historic center, in a decidedly cooler environment than that of the Sassi (which, given the heat these days, is fiery even in the evening!), intrigued by the reviews read.
We took a focaccia with oil and oregano then a "scented" pizza (tomato, mozzarella, gorgonzola, onion and spicy salami) and a "Matera" pizza (tomato, mozzarella, tuna, anchovies, olives, capers, onion).
The mixture turned out to be fragrant and very digestible. The pizzas were well seasoned and expertly cooked. You can also choose the wholemeal variant, for both white and red pizzas.
We give full marks to Manuel, the pizza chef, and the gentleman who served us at the table, with kindness, professionalism and attention to some details (napkins in addition, knife to cut the pizza more easily).
The restaurant has internal rooms and in the summer tables outside, in a space in front of the restaurant, raised above the road.
Via Fratelli Rosselli is a wide and long street, also convenient for parking.
The prices are honest.
I give 4 stars instead of 5 because I only tried the pizzeria and, given my stay in Matera for only two days, I didn't have the opportunity to also try the restaurant service.
I highly recommend this venue.
