22/08/2026: We were in Venice for three nights, staying at the nearby Casa Verardo (see my review for that amazing hotel on Google.) and we had a recommendation for a restaurant from our concierge that was steps away from Al Vecio Canton. The Venice skies had opened up, we were a bit lost, under our umbrellas, looking for a different place, and the proprietor of Al Vecio Canton beckoned us in out of the rain. I apologized and said we had a reservation at a different restaurant, named it, and the gentleman told us where it was. He then briefly paused, handed me the business card for the restaurant, and said, "not to worry, my friend, come see us tomorrow night."
That's exactly what we did. Our dinner for eight was upstairs, low ceilings, busy with locals eating. Great sign. Our server was wonderful, our meals great (the pizza was wonderful, the calzones delicious, the house red was wonderful, and the carbonara was delicious..)
Their hospitality was charming, funny, perfect and so Italy... so Venice. Couldn't have had a better finish to our short stay in that amazing city. Thanks to the staff at Al Vecio Canton for making our last evening in Venezia special! Molto Bene! Grazie!
08/08/2026: Very professional in handling dietary restrictions. The gluten-free pizza is baked in a separate oven. They also offer gluten-free tiramisu.
The service is quick and courteous.
