Do yourself the favor of visiting the Casentino forests to immerse yourself in the placid nature of the park of the same name. Staying on the subject of immersive experiences, the one offered by the Mater Restaurant is equally indispensable, as it is nestled perfectly among those forests. The context is welcoming, thanks to the attentive care of the dining room staff who accompanied us for the entire dinner. We opted for an "in-depth" tasting journey, characterized by strong flavours. An offering of dishes that keeps its promises, with undoubtedly refined creations but without ever falling into ostentation. The underlying theme of the courses remains the presentation to the world of the good things the Casentino forests have to offer. The courses are presented by telling the story of the land that gave them material and inspiration... and there is no shortage of pleasant surprises (even for those who already know these places). The accompaniment of the wines alternates the proximity of the homemade with geographically distant research, definitely not the usual drink. All this to say that the Mater Restaurant represents a unique example of its kind and that in its peculiarity it has left us with a great desire to return. Maybe taking the opportunity to try the menu of a different season. Seeing chef Baroni and his team maneuver in the open kitchen is a satisfying sight and we would like to listen to Marta, the restaurant manager, tell us the stories hidden behind every course and every glass.

This time we tasted the gourmet breakfast offered on Sunday morning. An excellent selection, the sweet part a delight (the leavened products really deserve it), we then continued with cured meats, cheeses and toast. Everything excellent and with attention to the smallest details. The staff took care of our every need with kindness and courtesy. This restaurant is our favorite place, coming back is always a pleasure.

I write these words after one of the most extraordinary and interesting culinary experiences I have ever had the pleasure of trying. The restaurant is located in a key location in Casentino, and offers an extremely private and welcoming atmosphere. We chose to dine through the tasting of the "In Superficie" menu, which was able to transport us on a journey to discover flavors we had never tried before and truly interesting combinations. Worthy of note are the spectacular and tasty boned quail and the very particular fir-flavoured panna cotta. Heartfelt congratulations to all the staff, who were able to pamper us on this incredible culinary journey.

Abbiamo alloggiato presso l’hotel i tre baroni, e per la prima serata abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante che si trova all’interno, ci ha stupito l’estetica del posto, e l’importante panorama di cui si può godere. Il cibo era davvero ottimo e particolarmente raffinato, allo stesso modo era preparato lo staff che ci ha servito. Tutto molto gustoso, qualità di altissimo livello. Spettacolare l’idea di lasciare agli ospiti i menu, per poterli piantare!

An experience to be repeated over and over again. Chef Baroni is truly a professional with uncommon creativity, the presentation of dishes of great visual impact. Dinner was a riot of flavours. Congratulations to all the staff, all great professionals worthy of a restaurant which, I hope, will soon have at least one Michelin star. Thanks to Marta who accompanied us with her grace, elegance and experience in this excellent experience. See you soon!
