You can't just happen upon Mater Restaurant; you have to want to. It's a journey through nature with a breathtaking view of the Poppi plain, which also heralds a journey into the flavors of the local countryside.
A very well-maintained restaurant with an open kitchen, where you can watch a group of artists perform. Each dish is a work of art, both visual and olfactory. We've occasionally tried the tasting menu (useful the first few times to get to know the offerings), but lately we've chosen the à la carte menu, which allows us to focus on a few new dishes. Which ones can I describe? All very sublime, but I must mention one pleasant surprise that truly blew me away: homemade tagliolini with two textures of apricot. I couldn't have imagined such a dish possible, a delight. Excellent and impeccable service.

A wonderful evening at Mater
We chose Mater for the simple yet fascinating philosophy that inspires Filippo and Marta's work.
We appreciated the research and innovation deeply rooted in the region,
the evocative and well-orchestrated pairings in which the characteristic notes of the raw ingredients emerge clean and refined through transformation, for a memorable sensory experience.
We were accompanied by attentive and delicate waitstaff, their pleasant and evocative narration.
We savored the care and attention, and for this rare ingredient, we will be happy to return!

My wife and I had dinner on Saturday evening at the Mater restaurant and accompanied on a tasting tour we discovered the world of Chef Filippo and his impeccable kitchen staff and the professionalism of Marta who manages the dining room with her collaborators putting everyone at ease but with a truly impressive competence. In this tour you feel flavors and aromas often forgotten but which are present in the territory and enhance the simplicity of the raw materials but at the same time you perceive a study and a workmanship that you can't even imagine. I would like to compliment everyone for truly working with passion and I guarantee that the results are visible but above all they are felt, it is an experience that more than describing you have to try.

The Mater Restaurant, in its particularity, has left us with a great desire to return. Seeing the chef and owner Filippo Baroni and his team move in the open kitchen is a spectacle; we would still like to listen to Marta and the dining room staff tell us the stories that accompany each course and each glass of good wine, strictly "white": BRAVI! BRAVI!BRAVI!.

The perfect combination of kindness and professionalism!
The room, with an open kitchen on one side and a wonderful view on the other, was built and furnished with immense care. Upon entering, you immediately notice that modernity and tradition can coexist very well, and this is found both in the furnishings and in the dishes.
Strongly attached to the territory that they try to enhance by using raw materials of their own production or from local producers. Excellent food, balance in the dishes, there is never anything banal or predictable, every bite is an experience for the palate. Great attention also to wines and cocktails, the latter prepared directly at the table, accompanied by a short and more than exhaustive description of the products used. We had already been here, and we will definitely return again.

Il nostro posto del cuore, non una semplice cena ma un’esperienza immersiva nei sapori della terra Toscana e soprattutto delle foreste casentinesi. Lo chef, un artista in grado di raccontare delle storie e di stupire con sapori intensi e prodotti speciali. Là sommelier fantastica e preparatissima, ci ha portato vini meravigliosi e poco conosciuti mostrandoci un autentico amore e una grande devozione a questo splendido mestiere che sicuramente questo ristorante porta avanti in modo veramente speciale. Una perla rara.
