Ristorante La Siciliana In Catania

Have you never been to the "Sicilian"? I have heard myself say this phrase so many times. Historic place in Catania, perhaps one of the longest-running and best-known trattorias in the city centre. Well, in the end, intrigued, I went. I'll start with the location, which has certainly remained behind in time, with furnishings that clash with each other, confusing and with few poorly arranged spaces. Narrow corridors, insistent and annoying voices. Traditional dishes that didn't leave me with any particular memories, at prices that were decidedly above average. The only positive note were the desserts, which made me forget the sufficiency of the dishes.

We had booked, as soon as we arrived a room attendant told us that they had forgotten to write our reservation, which is already not a good impact, however there is a table and we sit down. No wine list but they have a cellar space to view, but it would be advisable to be able to read what is on the labels and the relative prices, none of this, another not positive aspect. Let's get to the food: puff pastry with artichokes and cheese or bechamel, practically the bar pâté, the pastry prevails and the almost non-existent filling, therefore an anonymous dish. Risotto with black cheese and ricotta and tomato sauce (echoing Etna), back with salt and black without flavour. Swordfish and squid rolls stuffed with the same breadcrumbs and parsley, also anonymous and tasteless. The desserts, on the other hand, are top marks, both the tart with Chantilly cream and the millefeuille. Courteous service as it should be but not very attentive to the order on the table and the wine to be poured to the customer. Historic Catania restaurant that offers the cuisine of our territory, tradition has an important value and the fact that there are restaurants that still relegate their menu to tradition is a positive aspect, but the food must also be tasty and here the taste was missing . Deafening location, too much noise.

The best restaurant in Catania, without a doubt! The pasta alla norma is incredible, I challenge you to find a better one, and the strawberry tart is the most elegantly delicious dessert that exists. A little old place but it's part of the historical charm.

Eines der bekanntesten und ältesten Restaurants in Catania. Familienbetrieb in zweiter Generation. Traditionelle Gerichte wie Ripiddu Nivicatu und exquisit zubereitete Fischspezialitäten aus erstklassigen Zutaten sind maßgeblich für den ausgezeichneten Ruf dieses Ortes verantwortlich. Das La Siziliana liegt außerhalb des historischen Stadtzentrums, an einer Schnellstraße. Das Fischangebot mit Kühltheke liegt vor dem Eingang und kann begutachtet werden. Das eher an einer robusten Taverne erinnerndes dunkles Interior wirkt gemütlich, die Beleuchtung sorgt eher für Unmut. Am Ende belohnen einem die tollen Gerichte - WOW-Faktor garantiert. Die Preise sind eher im oberen Segment. Das zahlreiche, freundliche Personal ist aufmerksam und hilfsbereit. Der Restaurantbesitzer stand uns auf Englisch unterstützend zur Seite. Corona hat in Italien seine Spuren hinterlassen, eine Speisekarte über einen QR-Code ist zwar praktisch, dennoch anstrengend und frustrierend wenn gerade vor der Bestellung das Mobilfunknetz zu schwach ist. Im großen und ganzen war die Erfahrung sehr gut. Ich würde gerne wiederkommen. Eine klare Empfehlung!

Ottimo ristorante di fascia medio alta. Materie prime di ottima qualità e cucina di indubbia sapienza. Manca l'ultima stella per il prezzo a mio avviso eccessivo. Togliendo il vino da 30€ che ci sta', 50€ a persona per antipasto e primo. Ovviamente c'è qualità.

La Siciliana esiste più o meno, da quando esisto io, anzi da prima, da quando cioè, nei racconti dei miei genitori,era una putia di Pianotavola, frequentata molto dalla Catania bene e dove si mangiava molto bene. La frequento a periodi, da sempre, ma alla fine smetto perché c’è sempre qualcosa che non va, stavolta più di qualcosa. Arriviamo e non si capisce quale sia il tavolo prenotato, nomi sbagliati, numeri di posti anche. Come sempre, noto personale inadeguato e approssimativo, tranne un solo elemento educato, il resto andrebbe quantomeno messo un po’ in riga. Si chiede una carta dei vini e si apprende che non c’è, millantando una cantina, esterna, scomoda, buia e impossibile da esaminare in pochi minuti per scegliere un vino non catalogato. Prendiamo il primo Grillo che capita ma non è male. Incredibile! Vorrei un risotto alla marinara ma apprendo che, come temevo, si tratta di riso lessato precedentemente e ripassato coi frutti di mare, osceno. Mi viene detto che per fare il “risotto” ci vuole tempo, ma con chi credono di avere a che fare? Alla fine prendo il loro storico e iconico “ripiddu nivicatu”, da 50 anni sempre lo stesso ma almeno funziona. I ricci portoghesi erano buoni, gli occhi di bue anche e le sarde a beccafico, altro piatto storico, pure. Nel frattempo che ci vengono serviti i primi, la mia amica non viene servita. Aveva ordinato un tortino di alici che viene dimenticato in forno. La cosa gravissima è che nessun cameriere si sia visto almeno per venti minuti. La laconica scusa è che può capitare e che ne preparano un altro ma ovviamente la mia amica non lo vuole più, dovrebbe mangiare da sola visto che noi abbiamo finito. Mi dicono che i desserts erano discreti. Meno male. Non so nulla del conto ma certamente cospicuo, specie se rapportato al livello, generalmente modesto di quella che è rimasta infondo la putia di Pianotavola del signor La Rosa, dove si mangiava bene, tanto tempo fa. Sono una giornalista enogastronomica, anche sommelier…può capitare.

Tradizione di qualità, cortesia ed efficienza. Un luogo dove ritrovi il cibo che ti piace, coccolato da un'atmosfera familiare che rilassa. Appuntamento irrinunciabile, per una domenica a pranzo quando vuoi stare bene... La classicità fatta bene, a tavola....
