01/06/2025: We went to La Catagna on the advice of some relatives, and it was our first time. I had already heard good things about it, but experiencing it in person is a whole other story. The restaurant is located in Bacoli, a town that in recent years has become a real gem: well-kept, clean, tidy, with an administration that has been able to enhance it. The seafront at sunset is something that remains in the eyes and in the heart.
Getting to the restaurant is simple, even on a Saturday night we had no problems with parking (yes, you read correctly: parking in Bacoli, on a Saturday!). The only precaution is that the navigator might not be very precise - the place is not clearly signposted, and this is intentional, to avoid passers-by and onlookers crowding the entrance. In fact, the restaurant only accepts reservations, and you cannot enter without one.
Once you arrive, the show is guaranteed: a breathtaking terrace overlooking the sea, ideal for enjoying the sunset. The atmosphere is relaxed but well-kept, the clientele is select and the service is attentive and friendly.
The menu is fixed and changes based on the availability of the day. We enjoyed a long and rich series of fish-based appetizers: raw fish, carpaccio, octopus, sushi, shellfish and more, all very fresh and prepared with great care. The second courses were excellent, in particular a perfectly cooked amberjack and a truly remarkable dish based on bottarga and seafood.
The selection of wines is also well studied and the staff is very careful to propose labels suitable for the gastronomic journey of the evening.
In conclusion: a very pleasant evening, top quality products, suggestive location and prices absolutely in line with the experience offered. I will definitely return, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to treat themselves to a special experience by the sea.
