19/10/2023: Highly recommended by our “Taste of Florence” tour guide Toni (look her up, as well: there is a good reason Rick Steves is so fond of her!), Ciro was our sommelier on two occasions, and it was wonderful! Great wine choices, expertly matched with meats and cheeses to accompany the vinos. He shared a lot of insight into the differences driven by region, location, soil, and microclimate, as well as the finer points of timing the harvests. They only serve wines from wineries they are personally familiar with, and visited. And, in fact, Ciro occasionally even helps with blending, himself (ask him for a sample of the wine that carries their name!). The other folks are just as passionate and knowledgeable, so whoever you get to work with, you’ll be very well served! Aside from the cold cut / cheese platers, do look at the menu and try each of the delicious small, individual E2.50 bread slices, as well. Be sure to make a reservation, in particular if you’re planning on a visit in the evening! After sampling the Florentine food and wine scene for 7 weeks, I found this place to be one of its gems, just steps from Ponte Vecchio in the Oltrarno side. Very highly recommend!
