We took three first courses, a second course and a fixed menu, paying a total of 70 euros. Very good and plentiful food, excellent value for money. Very kind service, they even gave us a dessert at the end!

Good place to eat near the Etna volcano.

La cantoniera is a 5 star restaurant. The staff is attentive and friendly, and the environment is welcoming and refined. The menu offers traditional dishes with fresh and well-prepared ingredients. A great choice for a special lunch.

On our Mount Etna & Taormina Day Tour with Italy Tours out of Messina, our driver stopped at Ristorante la Cantoniera for us to get a snack and drink, as well as go to the restroom. The restaurant is below the summit of Mount Etna on the southeastern slope and is a place our driver stops whenever he takes tourists on the tour. The first floor contains a gift and souvenir shop, and another large room offers a bar and several tables. The real sit-down restaurant is on the second floor of the building. We were there mid-morning and, surprisingly, were the only customers there. Probably because there was a lot of ash on the roads, and they were not letting the large cruise tour busses drive up the mountain that day. That, apparently, happens fairly frequently. The gentleman running the establishment was very friendly and offered us some free samples of cannoli and a special liquor. I don't think my grandkids got any of the liquor, but they loved the cannoli. The restrooms were very clean.

Esperienza Goduriosa. Pranzo di Ferragosto. Tipico ristorante dell'Etna, con souvenir e oggetti che richiamano 50anni di storia della Cantoniera. Ci fanno accomodare in tavolo ad angolo ben ventilato e decisamente comodo. Decidiamo insieme con uno dei proprietari di prendere con cominciare un ottimo antipasto, funghi, salumi, caponata, parmigiana..etc.. Due primi ottimi, fra i quali preferiamo lo squisito risotto ai funghi. A questo punto optiamo per andare direttamente ai dolci, perché eravamo sazi. Una scelta di dolci superlativa, profiteroles alla crema bianca, cioccolato e nocciola. Torta Red Velvet, tiramisù, torta ricotta e mandorle, Babà e molto altro. Da sottolineare la bontà della Red Velvet, il tutto prodotto dal proprietario più giovane, straordinaria pasticceria. Grappa e amaro, caffè. Il conto ci ha sbalordito perché era più squisito del pranzo, torneremo certamente. Volete un difetto..? Non sono aperti a cena. Promossi a pieni voti.
