Ristorante Il Patio In Bologna

The reviews I've read don't do the hotel, and especially the restaurant, justice. The property is a bit dated but well-maintained. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was extremely friendly. I dined in the restaurant and must say the tagliatelle were excellent, the wine by the glass was an excellent Sangiovese, and the tiramisu was excellent. The location is very convenient for the airport, a 5-minute taxi ride away and well-served by free shuttles in the morning and evening (there are no afternoon shuttles). An excellent option for short stays near the airport.

Hotel extremely close to Bologna Airport, excellent for late-night arrivals or early-morning departures. Parking is available, as well as a free shuttle service to the airport terminal. I had already stayed here many years ago when the hotel was still a Sheraton, and since then practically nothing has changed. Unfortunately, the property feels quite dated and the rooms are definitely in need of a major refurbishment. We arrived at the hotel after dinner, as we had a 6 a.m. flight the following morning, so we decided to travel to Bologna the evening before in order to get a few hours of rest. After a quick check-in, we found the room unbearably hot, and it was impossible to cool it down unless we opened the window (which we had no intention of doing since it was raining and windy outside). The bedding felt cheap and the pillows were so thin they were practically nonexistent. I had booked this hotel hoping to get a few hours of rest before my flight, but that was definitely not the case, as the few hours spent there were anything but relaxing. In the end, you are paying (quite a lot, actually) solely for the location near the airport; everything else is entirely forgettable.

It's okay for one night, but you can't get there from the airport; you have to walk 25 minutes, or go to the hotel's kebab shop. But the kebab shop isn't open from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM. It's hard to sleep because you can hear airplanes and the hallway, and there's no soundproofing. There's nothing around if you go out. There's not even coffee or a kettle in the room. But it was clean, and there was a bottle of water.

I understand that being an airport hotel, the location is what it is... however, aside from the location, which may be convenient only for those going to the airport, the surrounding area and the road to get there are deteriorating. But let's talk about the room. I stayed in a double room with my boyfriend, and despite the hotel's Wi-Fi, the room had little or no reception. We couldn't watch TV when we returned to the hotel to rest. The room's refrigerator only contained bottled water, still and sparkling, and nothing else. The booking description stated that toothbrushes would be provided, but they weren't. Luckily, just in case, we had brought our own. The end result... for the price, it was a bit disappointing.

So it's a bit of a mixed bag. The property itself is nice. Seems old and it is, but still very well designed. The rooms are quite big and have a good view. However, our room's thermostat didn't work. Our room's washbasin was clogged. They did send somebody to fix it but thermostat being literally broken isn't a good sign. Also the location works only if you have a flight which aligns with the timing of the shuttle service. We had a flight at 6 but the shuttle service didn't begin until 4.45am. Also visiting the city is difficult. You have to walk to the airport, which is a 30min walk. Probably taxi. It's a nice place but see if it suits your timings.

We stayed here in mid-March and were very impressed overall. Our room was spacious and clean, with a good blackout too. There was complimentary bottled water in the fridge, and some nice toiletries too and free slippers. Noise from other rooms and from the corridor was minimal. Unlike other reviewers, we did not find the hotel dated (and we have stayed in many Italian and European hotels over the years). The staff were very helpful, both at checkin/out, and in the restaurant. We arrived in Bologna Centrale by train, so a taxi was the cheapest way of getting to the hotel early evening (as the hotel clearly advertises, the complimentary mini bus does not run all day). We did use the minibus in the morning to get to the airport for our flight. We ate in the hotel in the evening and the food quality was very good, even if the service was slow. We also had breakfast and it was impressive, with a good range of cold and hot food. We would certainly consider staying here again if in Bologna - thanks to all concerned for a comfortable stay!

Great location near the airport. Friendly staff, efficient check in and exit. Food at the restaurant better than expected, Ragu was yummy! Free parking. Parking was safe. Bed a bit soft for me.

For a location just next to an busy airport, you don't get to hear the airplanes taking of or landing even with the balcony door open. An amazing piece of curved building which defines the space with its functional architecture. The road up to it feels like you've took a wrong turn, but hotel parking, security and ease of use make it well worthwhile experience.
