Ristorante il Grande Pino In Sant'agata di militello

We went to the restaurant for lunch. It was quite late (almost 3 pm) and the service was wonderful. Santino and his wife are lovely; they recommended what to order, and everything was spectacular. Great food, great service, and a personal touch that was simply unbeatable. Everything we ate was of excellent quality, and the recommended wine was equally good. The restaurant is beautiful, with a fantastic garden and a giant pine tree over 300 years old, which Santino personally showed us. You couldn't ask for more; the service was outstanding.

The location is truly beautiful and well-kept: it's a real shame to find the weather bad on August 15th and not eat outside. The fish is fresh, certainly well-frozen and of high quality, but it's prepared without imagination, without that special something that makes you remember it. With two bottles of wine, appetizers, and a first course, we spent €50 per person (considering we had three small children). Dessert needs rethinking: the flans are fine, but the crème brulee and freshly defrosted cheesecake aren't up to par with the place, and especially the bill. The service is truly lame (missing menus, endless waits for dessert, lack of coordination, sloppiness). There's no parking: you have to park in the middle of the street. I don't think we'll be back.
