A relaxing weekend, although we found the indoor pool colder than other times. Breakfast was always top-notch, the rooms were clean this time, and our neighbors were noisy late at night, but that's due to the rudeness of the guests.

Very good location because it's close to the city center. I was very satisfied with the restaurant, especially the dinner. It offered a wide variety of options and excellent dishes, even for celiacs. The welcome was discreet. I expected something more from a 4-star hotel. On a less positive note: the elevator was out of order. There was another service elevator, but it was a bit tricky from the second floor with heavy suitcases. All in all, a good experience.

We chose to spend New Year's Eve dinner at the hotel to avoid problems with the New Year's Eve fireworks for my two dachshunds, but in addition to the menu absolutely not living up to expectations, given the considerable cost, we witnessed a surreal scene at midnight with all the guests in the hall waiting for someone to show up to allow the toast of good wishes. But no one showed, leaving us like fools to wish each other good wishes without the traditional countdown with sparkling wine. Too bad we later realized that all the staff was in a separate room toasting on their own... shameful.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Croce di Malta in Montecatini Terme during the Christmas holiday period. Overall, our experience was positive, although there are a few areas where some improvement would be welcome. The location is certainly a plus, conveniently close to both the town centre and the railway station. The interior is tastefully designed, blending modern and classic elements, although it does feel somewhat impersonal and rather cold. The staff we encountered were consistently professional, polite, and helpful, which deserves genuine praise. Unfortunately, several practical issues detracted from our stay. Our apartment featured two bathrooms, yet neither was fully functional: in one, the sink failed to drain (while the toilet worked), and in the other, the sink worked perfectly but the toilet flushed poorly. This resulted in an unexpected amount of walking between bathrooms—hardly what one anticipates when booking an upgrade. The in-room coffee machine was partially broken, though still usable. More problematic was the shower: hot water was barely available, with the temperature more suitable for particularly resilient guests. In winter, this made showering feel closer to a student hostel—or a well-appointed dormitory—than a four-star hotel. In the evenings, commercial Christmas music was broadcast via loudspeakers from the street outside. While this is not necessarily the hotel’s fault, it is certainly something guests should be aware of. To be fair, the music did stop around 9:30 p.m. Breakfast was a bit disappointment. The selection of fruit, bread, and food in general was limited, and cheeses and cold cuts were left unrefrigerated in open containers, visibly drying out over time. This felt careless and out of step with the hotel’s otherwise polished appearance. In summary, the hotel has clear potential and an excellent location, but it is let down by avoidable maintenance issues and a lack of attention to detail. The professionalism and kindness of the staff stand in sharp contrast to these shortcomings—and deserve to be acknowledged.
