Passing by, I ate at this culinary wonder. The dishes were truly meticulously prepared, including a special Val d'Ossola cured meats appetizer with two truly exceptional cheeses, delicious polenta concia, and a veal round with tuna sauce and delicious capers—truly superb. The house Val d'Ossola wine was also excellent, and to finish, the Catalan cream with figs and a truly special hazelnut and zabaglione cake! We dined at Ristorante Flizzi di Staffa in Macugnaga and it was a memorable experience. Kudos to the chef for his excellent dishes made with the highest-quality ingredients, to the waitress for her attentiveness and professionalism, and to the owner, a great wine connoisseur, who welcomed us warmly and spent time with us after dinner. Impeccable service, a refined atmosphere, and unforgettable dishes. It's a shame we only discovered it on the last day of our vacation: we would have loved to try the entire menu!

Wonderful restaurant in the main square. We went for dinner and the beef cheek main was a treat. They have gluten free options and gluten-free bread. The service is excellent. They were open only for a short time in the afternoon and in the evening - so recommend calling and making a reservation.

A typical mountain restaurant, welcoming and family-friendly. Excellent food, featuring local produce. The staff is friendly and generous with explanations of the dishes. Ample parking is available a few hundred meters away.

A very charming restaurant in Staffa's main square. We ate outside, but the inside is also very beautiful. The service was prompt and attentive. The menu is very interesting, with unique dishes and beautifully balanced flavors. Everything was excellent, from appetizer to dessert! Highly recommended.

We went today without having booked, and we were welcomed warmly. We ate a platter of truly exceptional local cold cuts and cheeses, the first course was also good, and the wine was also decent, a nice location at a fair price.

Ristorante del Vecchio Borgo

29/10/2025: I discovered it by chance while browsing restaurants in the Domodossola area on Google Maps, and in the end I decided not only to eat there but also to sleep there, and I must say it was the perfect choice. First and foremost, the helpfulness and hospitality of the staff. The lady who welcomed me made me feel at home right away and accommodated all my requests, even before I arrived. The hotel is rustic in style, housed in the rooms of an ancient palazzo in the small historic center of Vogogna. The furnishings are basic, but the rooms are very spacious and warm. It's wonderful to wake up in the morning to the sound of the bells of the nearby church and the mountains of the Ossola Valley. The price is incredibly affordable (€50/night in a single room + a croissant and cappuccino for breakfast). As for the restaurant, I was lucky enough to try it for dinner upon my arrival, and I must say the dishes were all delicious, from the marinated Fassona beef tartare with truffle mustard to the raviolini del plin with fondue and saffron sprouts—everything was exquisite and prepared without being pretentious. I really enjoyed the menu, featuring local specialties. Well done! The atmosphere is reminiscent of times gone by, with the typical warmth of a tavern. I highly recommend this place, both for the food and as an excellent stopover for nearby Domodossola and the foliage train. I'll be back. Thanks for everything.
