We had lunch here. We arrived before opening time, and they seated us and took our order right away. The traditional first courses were truly excellent and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Enjoyable meal

The lemon ice cream was really sour
The tiramisu was excellent, not too creamy, with a good coffee aroma, and the cheese was good.

The environment here is absolutely beautiful! Ristorante Donatello has a wonderful, elegant historical charm, and the walls covered in old photos give it a really nice classic atmosphere. As for the food, it was decent and traditional, but it didn't really surprise us or stand out compared to other meals we've had in the city. A nice, reliable spot if you want to dine in a gorgeous, old-school Bologna setting, but the dishes themselves are pretty standard.

We visited here as a group of four. We managed to get a table without a reservation but within 5 minutes the restaurant was full. We had the Lasagne and Risotto and then had four different deserts which we all shared. This was the best meal we had whilst in bologna. Service was excellent our waiter didn't speak much English and us virtually no Italian but we still managed to have a laugh. Highly recommend and I would visit again.

A typical restaurant with a strong tradition. However, in my humble opinion, it's still stuck in the '70s and '80s. It could use a refresh. You'll find photos of many famous people here. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The first courses are very good and plentiful; the pasta is homemade, as is the ragù.

To say Donatello is amazing would be an understatement! We had the most incredible experience when we dined for lunch at the recommendation of our hotel. The tagliatelle all bolognese was perfectly al dente with the most delicious sauce. The pasta alla norma was outstanding. The local red and rosato wines were the perfect pairing. The waiter was incredible and really made our experience unforgettable. Just a wonderful experience.
