A real Italian restaurant that has been serving for 120 years. It would be a great loss to come to Bologna and not to come here. Ambiance is perfect, service is excellent.
We ordered a Tagliatelle al ragu and a Stretta alla Romagnola. It was our 3rd dinner in Bologna and it was by far the best.
I especially highly recommend Stretta alla Romagnola, it was a masterpiece.

Must book at most times. Well-worn with a well-practiced act, waiters in relaxed bib and tucker, the best in a street with a dozen restaurants, for a bit of authentic posh-ish.

My husband, son, and I ate here as our very last meal in Bologna, before we commenced the journey home to Australia.
It was a phenomenal experience. The food was wonderful, I had the risotto and my husband a steak, but the service was an experience I will remember for years to come.
They could not have been more accomodating, friendly and helpful. They helped us with our bags (we were on the way to the airport), made space for me to change our son (we’d forgotten to do so before leaving our accomodation), never made us feel like a bother and really allowed us to enjoy one last meal in Italy.
I will rave about Donatello to anyone I know going to Bologna in the future.

It appears to be a famous restaurant, with photos and autographs of famous people adorning the walls. The elderly waiter who served us seemed to take pride in his work and, although quiet, was professional and very cool.
As for the food, both the authentic Bolognese pasta and lasagna were the best I've ever eaten!
Along with the interior design of the restaurant, it's safe to say that this is a restaurant that leaves you feeling very satisfied.

Consigliato da un amico e... aveva ragione! Ci sono stato con mio padre e abbiamo trovato tutto quello che cercavamo: una cucina bolognese autentica, sapori pieni, piatti fatti come si deve. Niente fronzoli, solo sostanza e grande cura nell’esecuzione. Il servizio è stato una chicca: uno di quei camerieri “vecchia scuola” che sanno dosare attenzione e simpatia con maestria. Tappa obbligata per chi vuole vivere Bologna anche a tavola, come si deve.

Mi ci hanno portata degli amici che conoscevano già il posto. devo essere sincera, da fuori non capisci bene se sia una trappola per turisti o un posto in cui sia doveroso fermarsi. Entri e capisci. Consiglio a chiunque vada a Bologna per la prima volta oppure no, titolare davvero cordiale, molto diretta, ma efficiente e perfetta padrona di casa. Il personale è professionale, attento e disponibile, e il cibo eccezionale. Merita! Inoltre sono ammessi gli animali, anche di taglia media. In centro a Bolgona, consiglio di prenotare!
