What struck me most was the staff's extreme courtesy, politeness, kindness, and attentiveness. The location, too, deserves a 10/10, where peace and tranquility reign supreme amidst the green Tuscan hills. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, and the rooms were spotlessly clean, with absolutely everything you could possibly need! Highly recommended!

If you're staying in San Gimignano, I highly recommend this place. The breakfast is delicious, and there's a wide variety of desserts. The homemade cakes are all delicious. I had dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant, and the prices were reasonable, the atmosphere was great, and the staff were friendly. The room was in great condition. The Cypress Road access road to the hotel was also fantastic!

Truly excellent hotel. Beautiful location, surrounded by greenery, very well-kept and relaxing. Very spacious room with two balconies, one overlooking the pool. There are two outdoor pools and an on-site restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Excellent breakfast. A place I would return to without hesitation.

I stayed last weekend. What can I say? Excellent location, just steps from San Gimignano. The attached restaurant, "da podé," is excellent. An experience worth repeating.

We had already been in 2019 and had a great time, and we returned in November 2023 and can only confirm the excellent impression we had. The hotel and restaurant were top-notch. It was a wonderful experience. We returned in November 2025 for a short break and can only confirm what we have already described.

Simple, clean hotel with fantastic views. It has a shuttle bus to San Gimignano, which is also a nice walk away. Amazing breakfast.

The hotel is in a beautiful location. The surrounding landscape was very impressive. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. The food in the restaurant was excellent.

A beautiful hotel with 40 rooms. Our room on the first floor (thanks for fulfilling our request) was spacious with plenty of room and a small west-facing balcony. The bathroom had plenty of counter space. Everything was very clean. The staff was professional and very helpful at the reception. The hotel's value for money was good, but we found the restaurant's price to be too high. Although it has been awarded a Michelin star in recent years, the food didn't impress us. Therefore, it didn't give it full marks.

07/04/2026: If you're looking for a quality, traditional Tuscan osteria, you can't miss the legendary Pistone! The food is top-notch. My partner and I stopped for lunch and then confirmed for dinner. Pistone leaves you with a smile on your face from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave! Highly recommended, we'll definitely be back.
09/03/2026: A few days ago, on the first day of our holiday in the Val d'Orcia, we dined at this osteria located in Poggio Rosa, about 3 km from Castiglione d'Orcia. A rustic and simple restaurant, it offers traditional Tuscan cuisine. From a good wine list, we chose a Dirimpettaio Orcia Riserva 2022, a full-bodied Sangiovese. Their specialty, however, is the Florentine steak, grilled by the owner. The meat was excellent, perfectly rare; we ordered the minimum cut, 1.5 kg, accompanied by beans al fiasco (flask-cooked beans) and roast potatoes. Naturally, already full, we moved straight on to dessert: classic cantucci with Vin Santo and ricotta with honey. Water and coffee rounded out the meal, bringing the bill to €160 for two (€102 for the Florentine steak alone; the price of €6.80/hg is perhaps a bit higher than the average for other restaurants in the area...). A highly recommended place.

Ristorante pizzeria San Rocco

08/02/2026: Magnificent! It's a 1861 villa, very tastefully refurbished in c. 2023 into a chic hotel. We were 2 adults and 2 small children. Loved our stay there, and the cons noted below are very minor. Beautiful place! PROS + Location. It's only 20min away from Alagna, and there are circa 15 parking spaces at the entrance to the Villa. + Standard of finishes and the interior decor. This place just looks amazing. It's superbly renovated and very tastefully decorated. + Well equipped. Couldn't really ask for more. (Maybe bigger mugs would be nice to have some tea) + Warm inside. We were here in the winter, it was -5 outside, and 22 inside. + The children playroom - great feature. Most of toys are for children aged 1 to 5, which suited us perfectly. + The library / reading room. Two standing shelves full of books, an eclectic selection of everything. 90% of books in Italian, with some 5 volumes in English and the rest in German. + Quiet. Even though our room was facing the main road, there wasn't any traffic during the night that might bring any noise. + Gigantic super-king size bed, double-sized sleeping sofa, and a sitting sofa in the kitchen. + Lift providing access to all floors. + Amazing panoramic view from our apartment, overlooking the road below, and the mountains all around. CONS - We couldn't give our kids a bath, as the shower didn't have a hand-held shower head, only the high level one. We were there only for 3 nights so it wasn't the end of the world though. - Just barely enough supplies, with no kitchen paper towels, just one washing machine tablet. - Not entirely child-proof. Historical chest of drawers beneath the windows are surely gorgeous, but our kids kept on crawling onto them and tried to open the windows. - Difficult and steep entrance road from the main road.
17/09/2025: I stayed in this villa in the early 1960s, during the summer when it was a summer camp for children from the Biella area. I only have a few very pleasant memories, both of the structure and of the walks in the surrounding area. And also of the delicious baked stuffed onions they sometimes served with meals.
