Ristorante Contessa In Gubbio

We're visiting Gubbio, but in the evening all the places are full (or have only outdoor seating, but it's raining) or have unreasonable prices. So we find this place online and drive there. The parking lot is large but full. Luckily, there are other parking lots nearby. The place is very large and almost sold out. The menu is extensive, the prices are affordable, and the quality is acceptable. The service, however, leaves something to be desired: diners should be served at the same time, not 15-20 minutes apart. A special mention goes to the restrooms: beautiful, spacious, and very clean.

A carefully sought-after place is super spot on. Large place, very kind staff, perhaps not very smiling but still kind and knowledgeable. Let's talk about the food... fantastic, so much so that we went there as soon as we arrived in Gubbio and went back before leaving wonderful Umbria. For those who love truffles like me, I highly recommend the Piccada with cheese fondue and truffle. The prices are more than fair despite the abundant and very well-prepared dishes. If you find yourself in Gubbio, go there because it's really worth it. Oh, I forgot, we also brought our little dog, who really enjoyed the grilled sausage and the water that Maurizio brought him in his bowl ☺️.

If you're looking for a cheap meal, this is the place to be. The atmosphere is rather poor, it's messy, and the staff is unfriendly. The lighting is uninviting, and takeout people were blocking the entrance for guests. The person we had at our table most often took ages to order drinks. We ordered ice cream, but it didn't arrive. Then we were given the menu, and he asked if we wanted an English version. We ordered, and it seemed like he didn't even know the English version. Mixed bruschettas and gnocchi were the first course. Both tasted great. The dishes were cleared without any interaction or question. He came back three times to ask if we wanted pepperoni pizza with salami or vegetables, because in his opinion, pepperoni is served with peppers. I had a steak with pepper sauce, medium rare, and fried potatoes. The steak arrived medium instead of medium rare, nothing else. It tasted good, though. After a while, I asked where the rest was. I was almost finished with the steak, and then the pizza arrived. He had forgotten the potatoes again. Later, he brought fries. He took my plate away without a word or eye contact and literally threw dessert menus on the table. My friend was still eating, and the pizza had just been delivered. It was decent, but nothing special. By then, I was so fed up with his behavior that I asked him if he liked his job. He said yes. Then I said, "You can't tell by your rude attitude, but he's a sweet smile and leaves... so he's good at it." The staff there needs some training first; we had three of them at the table. We went elsewhere for dessert. The photos looked great, but the atmosphere was nowhere to be found.

Large yet atmospheric restaurant. Good menu and excellent pizzas. Service can be a bit hit and miss, depending on who you meet.

Frequentiamo Gubbio da diversi anni, questo è uno dei ristoranti dove siamo soliti mangiare. Porzioni giuste, prezzi onesti, buono sia ristorante che pizzeria. Da veneto posso dire il tiramisù è fatto veramente bene. Un po' scomodo perché fuori dal centro, ma ci sono un sacco di parcheggi sia davanti che dietro. Un po' rumoroso perché é sempre affollato.
