As luck would have it, we came across this restaurant on the way home... and now it has become one of our favorites. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The atmosphere is that of the past, local style. The products are good and cooked properly. Having been there for an anniversary lunch, the service was, yes, up to par but with some small shortcomings. Overall, a good, characterful place. Update 06/25/23 I changed my mind, service improved and food ok.

Location: Located in an antique Tuscan village or borgo on a hilltop west of Monte San Savino in Arezzo, Tuscany. Originally this beautiful stone building served as the stables for the now-abandoned inn across the road. Completely refurbished in restored stone and wood, only the original wrought iron rings mounted in the dining room’s walls hint at its equine history. The restaurant serves traditional Tuscan dishes varied depending on what is fresh and seasonal. We recently ate at La Scuderia for our third time in Tuscany, and the warm, friendly service and excellent food were memorable. We especially enjoyed the Florentine steak cooked with rosemary and served with grilled vegetables and “patate al forno”. Their house red wine is very superior. In warm weather there is a lovely patio and garden. Plenty of parking right across the street. Accessible only by car. On the weekday night we recently visited the staff was very helpful and understanding in taking our orders and making recommendations. The owner/manager Barbara greeted us at the door and visited our table several times during the meal. Facilities: A beautiful stone building sitting at a crossroads high on a hill west of Monte San Savino, in the Arezzo province of Tuscany. Plenty of parking right across the street. Noise level is quite moderate, - easy to hold conversation. Nice atmosphere for a special occasion “off the beaten track”. Value: Very moderate prices for wonderfully prepared and served food. At our recent visit full dinner including excellent house wine and desserts was about Euros 28 per person. Pro Tip: Advance reservations recommended but not required. Also a nice place for a drink on a warm day.

Regola n. 1 fermati sempre a mangiare dove ci sono motociclisti e camionisti. Ecco, ora lo sapete. La cameriera molto gentile e alla mano. Ci ha avvisato che le porzioni erano abbondanti quindi di non esagerare. Abbiamo preso degli antipasti, primo e secondo. Consiglio tagliatelle con i funghi e straccetti di carne. Bello e buono il crostino. Consigliato!

Great service, great Tuscan atmosphere, good wines, suggestions for children's dishes not on the menu, but we didn't like the local cuisine. We're sure it was made with local specialties, in keeping with tradition, but far too many dishes are simply raw (or almost raw) meat.
