The climb to the hut is strenuous for inexperienced people, you should plan about 3 hours here, the incredible views on the way and at the hut are unbelievable. The staff is super friendly, the Kaiserschmarn and the beer are highly recommended. The dumpling soup was simply great.

We stopped here last week literally to seek refuge from a storm with rain and strong winds. The place is tiny, just a few tables and thankfully our group of 7 got one. The food was excellent, the staff super helpful. Very isolated and off the grid, but if you are hiking in the area and need refreshmnet, definitely stop! Take a look at the menu to learn the story and see the pictures of how they are supplied. Why don't we have these places in the States?

I've been in the mountains a lot, but this hut is really something special. We stayed there overnight as part of a week-long mountain bike tour. Everything is very familiar and homely, the host and landlady are extremely friendly and the four-course dinner with “greetings from the kitchen” was absolutely amazing. Especially when you consider how difficult it is to supply the hut with your own articulated vehicle over endless stone paths.

Climb to Croda Fiscalina Est from the Locatelli refuge, the environment that opens up is beautiful, the lunar landscape truly leaves you speechless.
Also excellent for slipping away from the much busier Locatelli refuge, here you can breathe real, non-touristy mountain air.
Easy climb although steep, it can also be undertaken from the Auronzo refuge without passing through Locatelli, but I recommend climbing from the latter to enjoy the view of the beautiful lakes

Delicious food, fair prices and very friendly staff. We recommend!
The only negative point is drinking water to fill bottles, as it is very expensive and sold in plastic bottles.

Visited in early July. My first Hut experience in Italy, and still my favorite. Staff was warm and friendly, and just as excited about the beautiful Dolomites as we were. Accomodations were snug, but clean and warm. Dinner was a magnificent multi course affair, and afterwards us and a lot of the staff took some time to go outside for the sunset, which was one of the finest in my lifetime. Breakfast the next morning was a buffet, with the option to make your own takeaway sandwich for 3€, which I strongly recommend for any hiker with a long day ahead of them. I can't wait to come back.
