Rifugio Gallo Cedrone In Sesto

You get to Gallo Cedrone via the Mont'Elmo cable car, for which we pay 32 euros per person for the return journey. We decide to do it on a rather overcast day with a chance of rain. Once out of the cable car, we turn right and take a short 10-minute stretch of road that is almost entirely uphill, until we see the refuge. Given the uncertain weather there are no problems in sitting 6 of us immediately, we order after a few minutes. We also spent a few minutes talking with the friendly owner, who told us little anecdotes about the area. The dishes arrive quickly: appetizing polenta, pasta with venison ragout and macaroni alla shepherdess according to a complex family recipe that only the owner is able to repeat. Overall, all in all satisfactory, prices are slightly high, with an average of €20/person spent to eat 6 first courses, water and 3 portions of dessert.

Location: Located a short distance from the Monte Elmo ski lift station, this refuge is easily reachable after a short hike. Menu: It offers a mainly tourist proposal, but with attention to local tradition, offering dishes that reflect the gastronomic roots of the area. Service: The staff are courteous, fast and effective, ensuring a high-quality service and a no-frills experience. Bill: Prices are in line with those of other venues in the area, offering good value for money.

After years we return and the good food did not disappoint us. Special dumplings and excellent meat.

Devastating food really delicious

We stopped on the final descent of our hike for coffee and a cold drink. Young, dynamic and helpful staff. I would definitely stay here again!
