Exceptional welcome in a breathtaking location!
Marcello takes excellent care of his guests; and the food is delicious (and the grappa too :-) )!!

Was fairly happy here after a long day hiking but a few things to take note of - the comfort room is nice for a couple but it is a single bed with a single mattress so if you are two older guys this does not really work.
Food is good and plentiful but dinner at 8 pm seems a bit later and no WiFi until 8:30 or so is not a great selling point.
That said, room was clean, showers are hot and meals were OK so not too much to complain about. Not the best Refugio but very far from the worst.

The cuisine is always excellent, respecting the tradition of typical mountain dishes. Above average compared to most mountain huts in terms of quality and portion size. Everything is homemade, from appetizers to dessert. Excellent selection of local wines and beers.
Professional and warm welcome. The terrace is sunny from morning to night. Accessible even for inexperienced hikers.

The refuge can be reached after about an hour's walk from where you park your car (trail 9), and is also doable with children; the first section is steep, then you follow the dirt road past the beautiful mountain hut. It's a lovely refuge with breathtaking views. The food is excellent, although on busy days like ours, you might have to wait an hour or so for your turn. There are lovely meadows all around where you can stretch out and rest. For those who are up for it (difficult with children), there's a nice, challenging climb up to Colle Champillon, which on clear days offers breathtaking views from Combin to Mont Blanc.

We hiked the Grand Combim circuit, 5 days, staying in 5 mountain huts. Here's our ranking based on value for money: 1-Champillon Hut, 2-Panossière Hut, 3-Chanrion Hut, 4-Col de Mille Hut.
Swiss mountain huts are generally very expensive and don't always live up to expectations. Here, the welcome was very friendly, and the food was good and plentiful. Half-board was €75 and a beer was €3.50, compared to CHF 97 for half-board and CHF 8 for a beer at the Chanrion Hut. There's no comparison! Long live the Aosta Valley and goodbye to the Swiss millionaires!

Thanks to Marcello for his warm welcome. It's not the best-equipped refuge, but it has a warm and friendly atmosphere... we would have happily stayed a second night.
I recommend the Campari spritz... a delight.

Once you reach Plan Dètruit, leave your car in the parking lot and continue on foot along the dirt road. The climb is longer, but the 359-meter elevation gain is easy for those who aren't in good shape! During the hike, the view of the surrounding mountains is wonderful!
When you reach the refuge, you immediately feel a sense of peace. We ate lunch there and stopped on the way back from another hike, where we had a delicious ricotta cake for a snack.
Well done, keep up the good work!

Given that the location is superb, considering it's an hour's walk by car and the view of Mont Combin and the Alps, we ate well and relaxed. On the way back to the parking lot, we bought some excellent mountain cheeses.
