Rifugio raggiungibile in auto e dunque con poca fatica, il paesaggio è bellissimo in ogni stagione, l'aria è pulita a 1750 mt.

A historic refuge on the Avaro plains, very well run. Good food, clean, excellent location, and extremely helpful staff who always make you feel at home.

The refuge is easily found at the end of the road that leads to Monte Alvaro. Terrace on the mountain, to enjoy food and drinks. The restaurant inside well served by smiling diners who leave respectable dishes. Casoncelli, cold cuts board (excellent), mushrooms ribs and polenta taragna and normal. Excellent lunch, to return.

We took part in the Ciaspolando con Gusto initiative at the end of January. There was snow, not much but it's better to use snowshoes. Really well organised! There were a lot of people (about 1000 people participated in my opinion) but the departure times were staggered, so it wasn't annoying (except for the queue to go to the bathroom). It's a circular tour with stages where at each stage you can taste something: you start with an aperitif with bread with honey, yogurt with chestnut and pollen, local jams, focaccia with tasty sauces, hamburger sandwich, polenta with stew, dessert, etc... We started at 12 and finished calmly at 17. Wonderful day. The cost is €35 with €5 more for the snowshoes. The route is not particularly tiring (Monte Avaro is a panettone) and everyone can do it at their own pace. If you are celiac, if you let us know when booking, they will prepare suitable special dishes for you. I recommend bringing mountain poles to use with snowshoes. Since there are a lot of people, you park along the road, many hairpin bends before arriving at the Il Ciar refuge... but there is a free shuttle that continues to pass. In addition to this initiative, the cross-country ski trails are very beautiful and it is also nice to use the bobsleigh that can be rented directly on site.
