The dishes are generous, the meats are out of this world, very good, the gnocchi are excellent, the desserts are very good. If you are lucky and win it, the house limonchelo is good 😀. Mauricio is a good manager, always attentive.

Vassallo is the best restaurant in Chiesa in Valmalenco. We have been frequenting it all our lives and the atmosphere we breathe always remains the same. It's one of those places where when you go you already know what to expect, and that's what you want.
The sciatts you can find here are in my opinion the best in the area. Fried well, large, crunchy with lots of buckwheat to give flavor and colour.
For the first courses, their pennette are a must, a favorite dish, 80s style, based on ragù, mushrooms, cream, truffle cream and lots of parmesan (as in many of their dishes). Parmesan which however I find a little excessive in pizzoccheri, which in my opinion makes them not at the level of the other proposals. If you stay in Valmalenco for several days you will have the opportunity to binge on pizzoccheri in other places, here I recommend you break off with something else. Like their risottos, very tasty, but keep in mind that they serve at least two (as well as the pizzoccheri mentioned above).
As for the second courses, their meat is buttery, melting in the mouth, tasty: from the zigoiner, their main dish, to the simple grilled fillet.
For desserts I recommend the walnut cake, which is simply perfect, with a well-made and balanced pastry. The classic braulio sorbet is also good, except for the panna cotta, which didn't convince us.
To conclude, I would say that going to Vassallo is like taking a leap into the past, made up of timeless dishes, well executed with unfortunately not so generous portions. Unfortunately because they are simple dishes, which reach the throat, without pretensions, but with a great impact on what will be an evening dedicated to the good food of the past, eaten between stone walls typical of an immortal place.
