Restaurant Ansitz zum Steinbock In Villandro

Stayed here for the first leg of our honeymoon and had a lovely time. It is a beautiful drive through the mountains to reach the hotel and lovely views on clear days. Having a private sauna in your room is always a nice luxury touch and the room itself felt well thought out and the design was beautifully in keeping with the style of the building. The entrance is definitely hard to find as it’s not a big double door like a modern hotel would be but a smaller door on the side of the building which took us a few minutes to find. There were some lovely staff behind the bar that helped us check in and carry our bags to the rooms as there are no elevators. The restaurant food was lovely and beautifully presented although not a huge selection if you don’t eat meat or dairy however the staff made sure to ask for our dietary preferences on arrival and remembered at breakfast and brought things matching our requirements. We came to visit Lago di Braise and the three peaks which are about a 90 minute drive from here which was fine for us as the drive is very picturesque. There are not many other restaurant options nearby so you would likely have to drive down the mountains to find other options but we came during off season which may have impacted what was open. There is a small Spar shop where you can get a few groceries if needed 2 minutes walk from the hotel. A lovely experience overall - Ended with a lovely gift from the manager Elisabeth to send us on our way. Thank you Steinbock staff :)

The place is very beautiful and elegant, but the lady, who I think is the owner, to whom I paid the drinks was very cold and had no empathy, not even looking me in the face, probably because we didn't consume who knows what!

Unfortunately, we were only there for dinner. And what can I say? It was a truly unique experience. Each course was a dream. We received excellent service. None of our unusual requests went unfulfilled. It was perfect. Including a guided tour of the venerable walls.

We read a few mixed reviews but we decided to book our stay here anyway for 2 nights. We were not disappointed. The owner, Elisabeth was extremely thoughtful and flexible. For example, my husband needed shaving cream on a day the supermarket next door was closed, and Elisabeth arranged for a fresh tube to be brought to the room within 10 minutes, free of charge. Elisabeth was also flexible with the meal situation and had the kitchen cook up a delicious meal after their normal serving hours. The hotel itself is beautiful and full of historical charm. You can also tell that they’ve put a lot of effort into modernising the place with good quality materials. It’s also in a good location within the Dolomites and serves as a fantastic base for exploring the region. The free car park is a plus (it comes with EV charging spots). Food was exceptional: breakfast spread was good and they only use the freshest ingredients for dinner.

This small castle in Villanders is a highlight not only because of its breathtaking location and panoramic views, but above all because of the gastronomic journey it offers. Fine Dining – A Feast for the Senses: While the à la carte cuisine is already impressive at a Michelin-star level, the fine dining is in a league of its own. It's a true sensory experience! In a beautiful, stylish ambiance, each course is presented like a work of art. The precision of the flavors and the quality of the ingredients are phenomenal – an absolute culinary delight that I highly recommend to every gourmet. Ambience & View: Mamma Mia, the view from the terrace! You're practically perched above the valley, just a short drive from Bolzano or Bressanone. The combination of the historic setting and this excellent, modern cuisine creates an atmosphere you won't soon forget. Service & Team: A huge compliment to the owner and her entire team. The service is—typical for South Tyrol—incredibly warm, competent, and perfectly matched to the first-class cuisine. The rooms are superb and complete the stay perfectly. Anyone looking for excellent food in a unique setting simply cannot miss this place. An absolute must!

It's been a long time since a hotel and restaurant have impressed us so much… and even though we're still in the middle of our stay, we absolutely have to share it now. Everything is just perfect – from the warm welcome to the beautiful rooms and the lovingly decorated spaces. You can see in every detail how much heart has gone into this place. And the food… simply incredible. Both breakfast and dinner – everything is top-notch. René is simply a first-class chef! The ingredients taste so intense, the fruits, vegetables, and berries are just like they were in my childhood – it truly touched us. Elisabeth and Sonja are so warm, attentive, and always there without being intrusive. You immediately feel welcome and somehow at home. And then there's the special atmosphere… the 15th-century building has so much character and radiance – hard to describe, but you can just feel it. We are truly grateful for these wonderful days and will definitely be back 🤍

This is the perfect place for a luxurious romantic getaway. A very good restaurant, distinctive, refined, and with an excellent wine cellar. Our suite was truly special. I will return, highly recommended.

We had lunch at Ansitz Steinbock today. The service was attentive, the wine list was lovely with some great selections (also available by the glass), the atmosphere was wonderful, and the tagliolini with white truffle was outstanding. We'd love to come back. ❤️

We went to Ansitz Steinbock for fine dining. Definitely worth a visit. Very cozy atmosphere, friendly service. And most importantly, the food was truly exceptional. Here you can definitely discover new taste sensations, including the "wow factor" that, in my opinion, fine dining should have. Both the wine and non-alcoholic beverage pairings were well-chosen and of high quality. And all this at an absolutely fair price-performance ratio, especially compared to other restaurants.
