The Santa Rita Refuge is located at approximately 2,000 meters above sea level, at the Bocchetta della Cazza, which separates the Biandino and Varrone Valleys. Its panoramic location offers a close-up view of Pizzo Tre Signori, making it one of the most picturesque and popular refuges in the Lecco area. The structure has been renovated and now offers approximately 25 beds and a dining room seating approximately 60, with the option of dining outside on the terrace on nice days. The refuge is equipped with amenities such as hot water, electric lighting, a bar, and a restaurant, and offers traditional dishes and local products. It can only be reached on foot via various scenic trails: one of the most classic starts from the Biandino or Varrone Valleys and can take several hours to hike, depending on the chosen route. The hike is highly appreciated by experienced hikers for the beauty of the views and the connection with the mountain. Many reviews describe the refuge as a welcoming and scenic spot, appreciated for its cuisine and hospitality, although—as often happens with mountain refuges—experiences may vary depending on management and current conditions. We stayed at the refuge the night between August 24 and August 25, and had a great time! The staff was friendly, calm, welcoming, and always available to answer guests' questions. The refuge, if you start from Alpe Paglio, is located behind a small ridge (so it's not visible until the last stretch of the trail). The rooms are very comfortable, with comfortable beds (despite being bunk beds), and clean bathrooms. I believe the dinner service changes daily and includes a first course, a second course, a dessert, and coffee. In my case, as a vegetarian, I chose tagliatelle with cream and zucchini, polenta accompanied by local cheeses, and a panna cotta with berries. Everything was excellent and the portions generous. Breakfast was perhaps a little sparse (yogurt, cereal, toast) and lacked savory options, but since it's self-service, you can easily go back for a second go. I highly recommend it; the price for half board, considering the quality of the service, is very reasonable! We felt in a very familiar and peaceful environment☺️

What can I say? Santa Rita is a great place. The spritz here is amazing.
