11/10/2025: Nestled above the emerald Lake Sauris, in the embrace of the Carnic Alps, stands Rifugio Eimblatribn—a mountain refuge that is not just a destination, but an experience. At an altitude of 1,441 meters, this hut is more than a structure of stone and wood; it is a warm harbor of tranquility, bathed in eternal sun and enveloped in silence.
The journey to Eimblatribn is a moving meditation. Whether you are ascending from Sauris di Sotto or Lateis, every step on the trail is a departure from the everyday and a drawing nearer to primal nature. The air grows crisper, the scent of pine and alpine herbs intoxicating, and the panoramas unfold like a promise—the view of the mighty peaks of Monte Bivera and Tinisa instills a feeling of immense freedom.
When you finally arrive, you are greeted by a family warmth that is rarely encountered. Here, time slows down, and the aroma of authentic Friulian cuisine awakens the senses and promises true comfort. After a strenuous hike, there is no greater reward than a plate of homemade polenta, crispy frico (the traditional cheese and potato fritter), or tender gnocchi with game meat. Every bite carries the flavor of the Sauris region: from the local speck and cheese from the nearby malghe (alpine dairies), to the robust taste of a traditional soup that warms the soul.
Rifugio Eimblatribn is the perfect place for the soul. It offers not only rest for weary feet, but a healing panorama: the view of the distant, shimmering reservoir of Lake Sauris, a reminder of the mountains' power and beauty. At dusk, when the sky is painted in pastel shades and the sun kisses the highest peaks, you realize you have found your small oasis.
It is a place where stories are told and laughter is shared, where mountain tales are exchanged, and where you feel the sincere passion of the family that runs the refuge. Eimblatribn is not just a dot on the map; it is the point where the mountain, history, heart, and the unforgettable taste of tradition meet.
07/09/2025: A recommendation from another hotelier because everything was full. Wonderful, but you need an enduro or 4x4 to get up there; it's gravel, and steep in places. So it's a mountain hut; don't expect any comfort.
