15/10/2023: Cibo decisamente ottimo, prodotti scelti, pane e taralli fatti in casa, mise en place curata su una terrazza unica, stoviglie ricercate e personalizzate, piatti ben presentati; personale cordiale, disponibile e attento. Prezzi decisamente alti, ci può anche stare, perché la qualità si paga, ma voi per piacere pagate una persona che tenga pulita la location e soprattutto le toilettes, improponibili, accessibili solo con gli stivali per l'acqua alta, invase da ragni e insetti, a rischio infezione coi tempi che corrono, vergognoso. Leggendo le recensioni precedenti, molte delle quali sono negative, mi chiedo: ma i fratelli Alajmo, o chi per loro, ogni tanto dà un occhiata a quello che noi clienti paganti scriviamo? O per loro è tutto scontato... incluso una toilette sporca più volte recensita? Grazie
10/09/2023: Alajmo signature restaurant, so expectations were definitely high. What is excellent elsewhere is good here.
The place is very beautiful, getting there is an adventure and coming back even worse (if you don't have a boat or don't take a taxi).
You can get there by boat (4.1 on the outward journey, 4.2 on the return), but the last one that stops at Certosa Island is at 8.16pm. After 11pm the only service is Alilaguna which runs once an hour after 11pm and stops in Piazza San Marco (so if you parked towards Piazzale Roma a walk must be taken into account).
Logistics aside, which is certainly not the restaurant's fault, the service was good with competent and very friendly staff. I found it a bit rushed, the dishes were brought to us one after the other. We took the tasting menu, started eating at 9.20pm and by 10.30pm we had also drunk the coffee. A little too rushed for starter, first course, second course, side dish, dessert and coffee.
I would have expected a welcome entree, but that's a personal assessment.
The scallops are good, the tuna is good, a little less fusion than the scallops.
The cold paccheri were the weak point, I understand cold pasta, but a cold bill, a tough bill.
They didn't get it right when it came to cooking, there were parts of the pasta that were definitely still raw and "crunched" under your teeth.
The turbot and courgette flowers were amazing.
The ice cream was good, but without any particular points of excellence.
All in all a beautiful and positive experience, eating on the terrace with the lagoon in front is truly remarkable, but some things need to be fine-tuned, Alajmo or not, the cold paccheri dish is, in my opinion, worth reviewing.
