Kindness, combined with quality food...which is not a given these days.

Grocery store, small restaurant, or diner—do whatever you like—this is a great place just outside Florence. Found by chance on the way back from an engagement in Florence, and not wanting to go to the usual Florentine restaurants, this is a lovely place with a few daily specials, but they're freshly cooked and very good and flavorful. Delicious freshly made pasta dishes are available, and the bread is divine. You can eat inside or outside on plastic chairs, but if the weather permits, the veranda outside, almost along the river, is better. The only shame is the plastic tables and chairs, the many cigarette butts on the gravel outside, and some of the staff assumes customers know everything, making them a bit confused by their lack of willingness to provide information on how to order. Still, a great little place.

This was exactly what we were looking for! Delicious local food. Pasta and sides. They brought out someone from the back who knew a little English to help us along.

Unfortunately, the kitchen was closed for lunch. We happily gorged on cured meats and cheese. They made us feel like family.

We stopped by and were warmly welcomed into a wonderful atmosphere. The food was authentic and absolutely delicious, and we had the best cake made by Mama—it truly tasted like heaven! Highly recommended.
