Last night, on our way back from a trip to Lake Bolsena, we stopped in Farnese and had dinner at this trattoria.

Coming across Miriam's is always a pleasure: her welcome makes you feel immediately at home, with that rare authenticity. It's not my first time in the area, and the dish that brings me back, time and again, is the chicken liver pâté with fig compote. I've never tasted livers like that: creamy, intense, balanced by the sweetness of the figs. That alone is worth the trip.
The menu isn't extensive (a plus, as it signifies care and freshness) and always holds some pleasant surprises. Among the dishes I've tried, a special mention goes to the chitarrine pasta with mint and guanciale, perfectly fragrant and delicious. The wine list focuses on natural wines and a few local bubbles: perhaps a little less extensive than the last time I was there, but still interesting.
A word of caution: let's support small businesses that know how to work. Running an osteria involves costs and sacrifices, and it's not always easy. That's why I was shocked to hear two women at the next table ordering water and two first courses, also asking to change a tomato and eggplant risotto (which I had also ordered) by removing the butter and parmesan. Where's the respect for the work of those who cook? Miriam and her osteria deserve to be supported, because they know how to convey authenticity, quality, and warmth.

As soon as you enter, you can't help but be immersed in a homey, family atmosphere, as if you'd been invited by Grandma to her sweet home, sitting in the kitchen and living room, sampling the delicious dishes she'd cooked especially for you. Wines, fresh ingredients, and culinary reinterpretations of primitive meals, brimming with memories, flavors, and old images of family gatherings now relegated to the past. You eat well and have a wonderful time; time flies without us, you're among people, but ultimately, you're with your family and friends, enjoying a truly unique experience. Definitely worth repeating once you're in the area.

We go there once a year and it was wonderful once again. A mix of tradition and innovation, with an excellent selection of Miriam's wines, both classic and natural. Very friendly service, a warm and informal atmosphere, and fair prices: we'd love to return!
